Generational Durability

The Bronco x Filson collaboration goes back years, starting with some mutual admiration. When Ford and Filson first connected, the outfitter revealed Ford had been on mood boards as part of its own identity, believing that if the Filson brand was a vehicle, it would be a vintage Bronco. Parallels in purpose and passion surfaced, and the partnership was formed.

For those newer to Filson, allow me to tell you more about why this pairing couldn’t be more perfect. As part of the Bronco Filson reveal, Filson invited Bronco ambassadors and media to tour the Seattle factory, a tour you can take at the flagship store, too. We saw garments being made in-house by the hands of employees who had been there for decades –– 30 to 40 years for some, and ones who can recognize a 27-year-old coat on a guest as a piece they sewed themselves. We looked at templates and patterns pieced together tightly to eliminate waste and maximize sustainability while maintaining quality. We visited the repair room, where customers send in warrantied-for-life Filson belongings they’ve had for 50 years, complete with handwritten notes of how the item was passed down and requests for the team to please protect the earned patina. One gentleman even hand-delivered his 80-year-old jacket, a piece so sentimental Filson employees invited him back to witness the repair in real time.

What we saw were people who care about their work and owners who love their purchases, just like we care about our Broncos. That Filson’s “unfailing goods” are best when they develop personality through use as intended, not unlike a few Bronco pinstripes earned on a favorite trail or a drip of ice cream from taking the grandkids out on a sunny day. And we heard of generations passing down merchandise in a way that is very similar to our own desires to keep a Bronco in the family for decades to come.

Meant to Last

Together, Ford and Filson set out to reimagine what premium looks like for the outdoor space. As Filson’s John Duce told us, “It’s always good to look to the past and see what you can change for a modern design.” The companies accomplished this for the Bronco Filson family with purpose-led design immersed in the outdoors. Details are not ornamental; they're practical and meant to last. Like the no-cell-signal vacation you crave, technology was downplayed for the tactile. Materials were chosen to be worn in, not out. And while there are no Easter eggs unique to this trim, owners will keep discovering details that delight, ones that future generations can also enjoy.

“For nearly 130 years, Filson has built products for people who depend on their gear in the harshest conditions imaginable,” said Alex Carleton, chief creative officer at Filson. “The Bronco Filson is a natural extension of that legacy, combining uncompromising capability with thoughtful craftsmanship and utility-driven design. This vehicle was created for people who see the outdoors not as an escape, but as a way of life.”

“There is a massive difference between premium and precious,” said Paul Wraith, global design director, Sport Utility Vehicles, Ford. “If you’re hesitating because you’re afraid to get the cabin dirty, it doesn't belong in a Bronco. Every material we chose with Filson had to be honest, tactile, and relentlessly durable. And like a great piece of gear, this interior isn’t meant to wear down, it’s designed to wear in, aging beautifully alongside you and your adventures.”

A Stronger Heartbeat

Ford’s intent for a great vehicle didn’t stop with aesthetic. Bronco DNA courses through the newest stallions, starting with the 3.0-liter EcoBoost V6 used in the Bronco Raptor, an engine that has been torture-tested for years by racing in brutal terrain, tuned specifically for this application.

Unlike in the Bronco Raptor, however, a slightly less aggressive powertrain note will be sung by the Bronco Filson. While the Bronco isn’t a racehorse, it can get up and go, and in a 0-60 mph application, the 3.0L provides greater than half a second improvement over the 2.7L. While Ford hasn’t revealed torque for the 418-hp Bronco Filson, the Bronco Raptor pulls the same in horsepower, and 440 lbs-ft of torque.

“Bronco buyers don't just want a vehicle -- they want a partner for wherever they're headed,” said Andrew Frick, president, Ford Blue and Ford Model e. “Filson has spent more than a century making gear people trust and putting their products to the test in extreme conditions. That's exactly the standard we had in mind when we built this vehicle, and it’s why our customers love Bronco.”

Pack It In, Carry It Out

Filson’s bags are iconic, and we Bronco owners love carrying gear for our hobbies. Door-mounted saddle bags replace the netted pockets of other trims. They’re perfect for the smaller items you may want to reach for at a stop light. On the driver and front passenger seatbacks are active-use pockets: Store road trip snacks, flashlights, and other items you’ll want handy on a trip or trail. And in the rear are detachable bags meant for destination storage: recovery gloves, hobby gear, and whatever else you would like to take out of the Bronco and to the campsite or down by the riverbed.

Lots of Gear? No Problem

With the digital rearview mirror, you can pile gear to the roof and navigate roads with clear visibility behind you. And new power running boards –– software designed to avoid deployment problems while off-roading –– help you load up easier.

Enjoy the Quiet … Even on Your Daily Drive

Ford explained that this trim is largely based on customer desires, and one of those is for a quieter cabin. Owners will get their wish with the Bronco Filson family. Improved airflow, acoustic glass, and enhanced seals reduce wind and road noise — including nearly 20% less perceived wind noise versus the 2021 Bronco. Buyers of other 2027 trims can look forward to all the body improvements that make Bronco Filson quieter being manufactured into their own vehicle.

The Improvements and Additions Continue

Should we go on? Bronco Filson is not an appearance package with little substance behind it. From the new-to-Bronco ventilated front seats and heated rear seats to the C-bow brace included for body stability to the exclusive Filson-named colors of Field Green Metallic and Iron Sands Copper Metallic that closely resemble their own signature hues, this vehicle is packed with premium design, capability, and craftsmanship.
