What For, and Why Buy

TrailRax Modular Roof Rack: $1,304.99* (2-door option: $1,079.99)

TrailRax - Bronco Modular Roof Rack (TRMR Rack) 4-Door
Heretic - LED Light Handle

Like any other off-roaders, we like lights. While we’re usually filling the cutouts in Ford’s Heavy Duty Modular Bumper with Heretic fog lights or pairing its light bar with TrailRax’s roof rack, this time we’ve got a less-seen option that will still have you seeing more. The Heretic LED Light Handles integrate with a roof rack, giving you easier access to rooftop cargo as well as lighting next to your vehicle. You can also use them as side lighting if you need a night-run spot over obstacles. These come in a pair, but if you have a 4-door Bronco, you may want to space them out down the length of the rack or place one over each door, which is why we list two.

Ford Performance Recovery Boards: $283.50*

Ford Performance - Off-Road Recovery Boards (Pair)

When some off-roaders think of necessary single-vehicle recovery equipment, their minds go to a winch. Winches are great, but if you don’t want to commit to the cost, maintenance, and weight right now, then consider a set of recovery boards. Two sets, even, for easier extraction thanks to a longer runway. Bring them along even if you do have/get a winch; it's great to have multiple options in your "toolbox." Store these recovery staples on your spare tire with a carrier or attach them to your roof rack before you head out.

Ford Performance Off-Road Recovery Kit: $117*

Ford Performance - Off Road Recovery Kit

In addition to boards, having a strap and shackles can be invaluable for tough situations. Ford Performance makes a kit with some basics, including gloves, a 14,000 lbs. vehicle recovery strap, WARN D-shackle, and sturdy bag. Like any recovery gear, buy quality and get familiar with what you have. Learning how to recover a vehicle isn’t hard, but it can be serious. Practice before a situation comes up, and make sure you take your time to assess options and attack before starting. Looking for another recovery kit option? JKS Lower Control Arm Skid Plates: $143.96*

JKS Manufacturing - Lower Control Arm Skid Plates - Front - Ford Bronco (21-24)

Depending on your trim, your Bronco may already be pretty well protected underneath. However, there are still some vulnerable spots on all Broncos, including the lower control arms and the rear shocks. JKS makes skids for both areas. Even the best drivers can choose a weird line, or rocks can shift. When that happens, make those ugly noises underneath less nerve-wracking with extra protection. Skids are meant to take a beating so critical components don’t!

Customize Your Bronco for YOU

This concludes our Build Sheet Series. Shopping for parts can be fun, until the options pile up and choosing becomes difficult. We hope our Bronco Nation Team recommendations shed some light on areas where we like to improve, protect, and add splash on our vehicles. With some additional storage and lighting, underbody protection, and aesthetic tweaks, your Bronco can feel unique and powerfully equipped to do more of what you love.

If you’re torn between options or want to see examples of what your Bronco could look like with a modification, head to the Bronco forums and make a post. There are many helpful people who can share advice or comment with a picture of what you’re considering. See you over there!
