Ford has confirmed through Brand Manager Matt Winter that it will be opening the Bronco order banks on March 27, and yesterday, the company updated dealers on its plan. The word from dealers to customers? Move fast: Ordering is expected to be open for less than 24 hours.

While Ford will be communicating FAQs to consumers in the coming days, if you want to put a new order in, don’t wait until Monday to figure out what you’re going to do. Below, we detail need-to-know info so you can be prepared.

What Won’t Be Available

Build & Price has been updated with the new prices for 2023, but don’t rely on the on-screen choices when building your Bronco. Ford has told dealers a couple trims and options will not be available to order:

  • Base
  • Everglades
  • Badlands optional wheel (17” Black High Gloss-Painted Aluminum Wheels with Carbonized Gray Beauty Ring Beadlock Capable)
  • 7-speed manual transmission

What Trims Will Be Available

  • Big Bend
  • Black Diamond
  • Outer Banks
  • Heritage
  • Badlands
  • Wildtrak

As usual, specialty trims (Bronco Heritage Limited Edition and Raptor) will be handled through a separate dealer allocation process. If you’d like one of these, you need to speak to your dealer and get your name down for when they are allocated one.

Watch Out: Commodity Constraints

Just because you can order one of the trims above doesn’t mean you're in the clear. Take caution with what you order if you want it this year.

As of now, Ford can build:

  • 50% – Sasquatch package
  • 36% – 4-door hard top
  • 18% – Wildtrak
  • 18% – Lux package
  • 10% – 2-doors

Immediate Steps

Ordering is reported to begin at 4 p.m. on Monday, March 27.

Get to your dealer as soon as possible and communicate what you’d like to order. Many dealers have been pre-loading orders so they can begin entering them once the banks open. You’ll want to get in line with them long before Monday.

Ford has been alerting dealers of what their allocations will be and the percentages of constraints available. Dealers can share the likelihood of your order being built with them. Have that conversation, if they will have it with you. You don’t want to be stuck at a dealer without allocation for your order.

People desiring a Bronco have stated online that they plan on placing orders at multiple dealers when the banks open. Please note that the name match policy will be back in play for Bronco. If you choose to do this, a best practice is to cancel the orders you don’t plan on taking possession of before they are scheduled to be produced. Dealers can be docked for orders customers abandon, which is why more dealers may be requiring a larger deposit than usual on this go-around.

Why Is Ford Opening the Banks?

Dealers report Ford has about 20% of 2022>2023 carryover orders left to be scheduled. Why is the auto manufacturer opening orders when there are early order holders still waiting and so much that can’t be built? Likely because there are dealers who have had all their orders scheduled for production. Dealers who did well managing their orders are ready for more, and Ford needs to keep Michigan Assembly Plant running. Ford will be building stock units if they can’t build customer orders due to constraints.

What About the Order I’m Currently Waiting On?

Per usual with Bronco, Ford will be pulling orders by dealer allocation, reservation timestamp, priority code, and commodities. If you’re at a dealer with allocation, have an early order, are not in 99 priority code, and have no-to-limited constraints, Ford can move on your order much quicker than others.

Scheduling for 23MY ends in October, per Jorge Lopez, Tomball Ford, and production will run through November. Production startup for 24MY will begin in December.

Tune in tonight for Long McArthur Ford’s livestream at 8 p.m. to hear more from Tim Bartz and Sarah Davis.
