A few weeks ago, we announced a special collaboration with our friends at Pingree Detroit to bring wallets made from upcycled auto leather to the Bronco Nation Gear Store. The response has been great and we’re glad members are so excited about these items being custom hand-crafted exclusively for the Bronco Nation. Now we’re proud to announce that more custom Pingree Detroit items have been added to the gear store. But these items aren’t for you… they are for your favorite four-legged friend!
Introducing the new Bronco Nation pet collars and leashes.
Custom-crafted by the Pingree Detroit team of U.S. Veterans and artisans who are creating the Bronco Nation wallets, these new pet items are handmade using upcycled material from vehicle interiors, including headrests, steering wheels, and seat belts. Plus, each features:
- Bronco Nation logo label
- Military-grade industrial thread
- Heavy-duty stainless steel hardware
“Since we started making leather goods with upcycled car seat leather, countless folks asked us to make dog leashes more than any other product,” said Jarret Schlaff, Co-Founder/CEO of Pingree Detroit. “The upholstery leather we divert from the landfill that we get from partners like Ford was perfect for footwear, bags, and wallets, but usually wasn’t long enough for a four-six foot dog leash. We didn’t know what we could do at first with seat belts…and then it just clicked.”
Jarret said their team was in one of their morning all-team "builds" when the solution to the dog leash design dilemma was put forth. "We were exploring ways we could turn automotive waste into useful things to make this dog leash," he said. "We decided to go to junkyards and cut seat belts out of cars each week before they became scrap." This was a good solution for their initial testing and development phases, but as demand grew, the Pingree team needed more. Fortunately, they continue to get materials donated from various partners to keep the leashes coming. See more in this video.

BRONCO NATION PET COLLAR
Your pet’s new favorite collar is handmade by U.S. Veterans and Detroiters with triple-layer upcycled vehicle leather for durability and safety, and a soft suede interior for extra comfort. They feature American-made stainless hardware, multiple sizing holes, and a stitched leather collar loop for pet tags and/or to keep the extra leather strap in place.

BRONCO NATION LEASHES
Pingree uses reclaimed brand new seat belts from the automotive industry and gives them new lives by turning them into sturdy dog leash leads. All the leather used on the leashes is upcycled during the production of steering wheels and head rests from the auto industry. Each features USA-made stainless steel hardware.
JUNKYARD DOG LEASH
Designed for smaller dogs (4–30 pounds), this lightweight, yet durable, leash features a soft upcycled automotive leather handle and stainless steel swivel snap and d-ring for accessories.
