An Insider's Guide to Bronco Off-Roadeo Nevada

I’m not a Vegas girl. Given the choice, I’ll always pick starry nights over bright lights and hiking boots over heels.

But all of that changed during a visit to Bronco Off-Roadeo Nevada when I learned that just beyond the famed lights of Sin City lives a hidden paradise of remote trails, rocky washes and shifting sand dunes—an Eden of outdoor adventure.

Here is everything you need to know when planning your trip to Bronco Off-Roadeo Nevada.

How to Get There...

Nevada is the most easily accessible of all four Bronco Off-Roadeo locations. Harry Reid International Airport is so close to the strip that a neon glow washes over the cabin on final approach. Plus, it is less than a day’s drive from Los Angeles, Phoenix, Fresno, and Salt Lake City

Where to Stay...

Red Rock Resorta partner of Bronco Off-Roadeo Nevadaoffers a special incentive to BOR guests and sits 10 miles west of the city at the base of Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area.

Unpopular opinion: Ask for a room near the elevator unless you’re trying to close your Apple Watch rings. I swear I hiked a few miles to my room the first time I stayed at Red Rock.

Fueling Up...

If I ate gluten and dairy, I’d blend the Lemon Blueberry Ricotta Pancakes from Lucky Penny into a smoothie and wash it down with a pot of French Press, but alas my stomach is not made of steel and so I stick with the classic American from the resort’s 24 hour, in-hotel café.

Heading to Basecamp...

If you fly in, a rental car is your best bet for getting to basecamp. Although it’s a quick 30-min ride from Red Rock, Mt. Potosi feels like it is a world away and cell service can be spotty. In short, rideshare is not recommended.

At sunrise, you’ll witness why they call it Red Rockthe eastern-facing mountains reflect the warmth of the morning sun with a hypnotic glow familiar to the embers of a smoldering campfire. Be warned: It is mesmerizing so keep your eyes on the road.

You’ve Arrived...

Each Bronco Off-Roadeo location is epic in its own rightIn my humble opinion, Nevada deserves the Paper Plate Award for Coolest Property for several reasons, including its origin story as a Boy Scout Camp, but namely for the sweeping views from the open-air pavilion teetering on the edge of Mt. Potosi. It is from this vantage point that I questioned how I’d never seen nor heard about this side of Vegas—it's better half.

Bring on the Broncos...

As in all locations, the day at Off-Roadeo is divided into five blocks—Bronco History & Brand, Ground School, Sluice Box, ORX Training Course and Trail Drives. Some of my favorite behind-the-wheel moments in Nevada are the climb to The Overlook and three-wheelinon The Whole Enchilada.

Stay and Play...

In my next series, Beyond Bronco Off-RoadeoI’ll share my bucket-list adventures by location. In the meantime, go check out the Nevada location page for free-roaming fun like a self-guided kayak paddle to Emerald Cove—it glows like Oz—or an e-bike exploration of the canyon.

Winter Adventure Awaits...

In our family, we often say “There is no such thing as bad weather, just bad gear.” Point being, winter is an awesome time to bundle up and get outside. And if I were to pick any location to experience Bronco Off-Roadeo Winter Weekends, it would be Nevada. Dropping desert temps combined with a sprinkle of snow changes the entire experience in only the best way possible.

Winter Weekends are open now for booking at BroncoOffRoadeo.com and run January – March 2024. So, what are you waiting for!? Can't wait that long!? A few spots remain in the 2023 season!
