A Horse of a Different Color: Bronco DR Gets a Make … Under?

Bronco Nation is big fans of the Bronco DR. We were fortunate enough to be at the 2021 launch at Bronco Off-Roadeo Nevada, and even more thrilled to watch Jordan Parker drive it at King of the Hammers 2023 (even from the sidelines, we were excited as he was).

Honestly, why wouldn’t we be? It’s the most powerful production Bronco ever: a turnkey desert racer with the Coyote 5.0-liter V8 engine capable of putting out more than 400HP; impressive approach, departure, and breakover angles (47, 37, and 33 degrees respectively); shocks that can take on Baja without breaking a sweat; and more travel than a stock Badlands could even dream: an additional 55.1% in the front.

Even the livery looks cool –– Ford Performance red, white, black, and blue livery honoring Rod Hall and Larry Minor’s never-repeated 1969 overall Baja 1000 win in a stock Bronco.

So when Jason Walker II posted an unwrapped $250,000 Bronco DR being delivered from Multimatic, it looked kind of shocking. For the 1 of 50 recipient of this specific vehicle, though, it's ready to receive own their own regalia. And it sounded great; head over the Bronco6x page for a listen!

The lack of livery highlights every curve of the resin transfer molded fiberglass body and looks more like the designers’ sketches than we've seen so far.

Interestingly, the unfinished look almost makes the 37-inch BFGoodrich Mud-Terrain T/A KM3 all-season tires on beadlock wheels appear smaller than on the Ford reveal, highlighting the power of a put-together appearance on even our own Broncos. What do you think?

All in all, it’s a neat look behind the scenes of this wildly fantastic vehicle many of us will never own ... but may get to drive, if we're as lucky as Jordan from BN

More to Come
