Recently, Ford issued a Customer Satisfaction Program for the Driveshaft CV Joint Boot failure, and now, another issue has come up that’s reached the status of a recall: the backup camera image continuing to display on some screens.
Need to Know
Several sites have reported on recall 22C27, including Ford Authority and Consumer Reports. Details include the problem –– the image from the backup camera continuing to display on the Infotainment screen even after the vehicle is shifted out of reverse –– and the Broncos affected: 47,046 2021-2022s with the 8” screen.
Ford Authority notes these Broncos were produced between Sept. 23, 2020 to May 18, 2022. Owners of affected Broncos will receive notifications by mail starting Dec. 19, 2022. Owners may also contact Ford at 800-334-4375 or reach customer service by chat.
The Fix
Customers can download an over-the-air software update themselves, or have a dealership perform the update at no charge.
To update software yourself, click into “Settings” on the Infotainment display, then find “Software Updates.” Software updates can be downloaded automatically, or you can choose to schedule them. You can also force a search for updates, and your Bronco will tell you if you’re up to date.
