Could someone help me understand what the "buildable order" by November means? I really do not understand. I am a month 2 reservation holder who converted to order (twice: Feb. 21, before cutoff Mar. 22). I have on order a Badlands, LUX, SAS, no tow, soft top. I'm trying to figure out if Ford says, "Well, we cannot build a Badlands SAS within your dealer's allocation," then do I have to change orders? Is that what "buildable" means? Like I'll have to sacrifice what I reserved way back in 2020 just 'cause they no longer deem it "buildable" within my dealer's allocations for 2023?
Very confused. Would love any help understanding, even if just guesses.
I feel like we need a flow chart to answer your question, but I'll take a stab.
1. You will not have to change your order from what you have in the system when it flips over to 2023 UNLESS you have something on your build that is not available in the 2023 model year. As has been discussed in this thread, if your order color is cyber orange, then your existing order will be deemed non-buildable so it will likely be given a code 99 (do not build) order status until you have your dealer change your order to a color offered in 2023.
Now if everything in your order is available for 2023, then...
2. In a given production cycle, your dealership will be given X allocation (essentially a number of Broncos)...to make it easier, lets say its 10.
3. Ford will compare that 10 vehicle allocation to your dealer's queue of orders in reservation/order number.
4. They will look at those first 10 orders in your dealer's queue and run it through expected inventory of available parts and components for that build cycle. If order #1 in the queue does not have any unavailable components, it will be scheduled for build. If it does contain unavailable parts, it will be skipped, and Ford will do the analysis of the next order in the queue.
5. Ford will schedule 10 Broncos to be built. However, if there are parts constraints, it may not be orders 1-10 in their queue, it could orders 2, 4, 9, 10, 11, 14-18.
6. Those that get skipped will be at the top of the list in the next batch of allocation.
At this point what really matters is how big your dealer's queue is and how many allocations they are getting. Much better to be #150 in the queue if they are getting 100 allocations per manufacturing cycle than #8 in a queue if they are getting 2 allocations. The problem is that most dealers are not very transparent about where you are in the queue and what allocation they are getting.
Also, if you are solid on what you want, I would not change your build to try to get it done faster. There was a time when literally nothing with a hard top, 2 door, or tow package was getting built. Those days are past. Everything is getting built. There are still likely intermittent constraints for a cycle or two, but nothing systematic. If you changed something to get it quicker, there's not guarantee at all that making the change would get it to you any faster.
Hope that helps.
