What is it about the Baja Peninsula that keeps the world’s top off-roading enthusiasts coming back year after year? Perhaps it is the challenging terrain and the opportunity to push to new limits to overcome it. Or maybe it is also the spectacular scenery and locations that make it a special place to those who race or travel it. The Baja Peninsula’s racing appeal has created legends and endured for decades, and the Bronco has a significant place in that legacy. As the Bronco R gets ready to challenge Baja’s terrain once again, we got the chance to catch up with Cameron Steele, a Baja legend and key member of the Bronco R team, to talk about what he thinks makes Baja so special to people like him.
Cameron won the Baja 1000 in 2018 and was also inducted into the Off-Road Motorsports Hall of Fame the same year. He is well-known for his Baja lifestyle events such as Rip to Cabo, Trail of Missions, and the Baja Beach Bash as well as his easily recognizable Desert Assassins truck.
