Warning lights

Hey all,

Has anyone had issues with warning lights popping up and going away. My wife's Bronco does it occasionally. It will actually register on the FordPass message center, so we have proof of it happening, but of course by the time we can get in for service we get the same song and dance "we can't recreate the problem" BS. This last go around it was the Hillstart assist, pre-collision assist, and the anti-lock braking system. This is now the second time it's been in for the issue, but of course they can't do anything about it.

Could try getting an obd2 and hard clearing fault codes yourself. Mine has been invaluable over the years, and they're very affordable.

I have one, but it's under warranty and it's their issue. The Oasis report shows the warning lights even if the techs scan tool doesn't. So they have a print out in black and white showing all the times the lights have triggered. They've actually gone off more times than my wife has told me about.

To me that's like saying "yeah, my house is one fire, and I have a fire extinguisher, but that's the fire department problem...."

I'd personally try a hard clear of I had the equipment. If it fixed the issue, what's the issue.....

Good luck! My 2021 Outer Banks is currently sitting at the dealership now with similiar and worsening issues. I had it towed there yesterday after getting stranded with my infant grandson and husband…a AAA tow and $50 UBER ride later I was told that it started right up this morning with no issue. I told the guy I have a video and all the codes on the Ford app so it definitely happened. He said he believed me but with no codes to check the best he could do was to suggest I call FORD…what! My husband ended up calling because I was so upset…like the car was dead in the water and you want me to ignore all the codes that are still there and say NOTHING is wrong with it!! The dealership ended up calling back and said FORD gave them a list of places to start which is great but now I am looking at having to get a rental in the meantime. I stupidly thought brand new car= no headaches.

I agree, it’s their problem and even if you can hard clear it and it goes away, the fact that it happened is a problem in the first place. Also clearing it doesn’t mean it won’t randomly reappear at a horrible time/place when it should never happen in the first place. On the other hand having an OBD scanner to clear the codes in an emergency may be an alternative maybe.

That is frustrating! After giving them the Oasis print out(which they have access to) They did some digging and came back and told me they found a service bulletin that it is a known issue and that Ford is working on a fix and should have it published by November.

Thank you! And yes, I have a scanner/programmer but these new CPU's log EVERYTHING. So if I just went in there and cleared codes and their was a real problem down the road they could use that against me to void all warranty and avoid paying for the repairs.

Let's break that down. If my "house is on fire" a fire extinguisher would do absolutely nothing. If I had a "house fire" like- small grease fire or small electrical then yes, perhaps it would help.

ridiculous! I contacted FORD who basically said there is nothing that can be done until it does it. Luckily it was still at dealership and did it so they could see…apparently a part has been ordered so we will see what it pans out to be. Debating getting rid of this car before further issue. Warranties are great but basically tie your hands as to what you can do. It basically is a wait see get stranded and tow gosh only know how many times hoping it happens while at dealership

SOOOOOO FRUSTRATED!!!! Once again stranded!! This time out of state. Just picked up my Bronco Sport that has been in the shop for nine days .They replaced one part and said it was fixed and all good, till they drive it and a gagillion codes came up. So replaced gear shifter and drove it thirty miles and said issue was solved and to lock it up. Well I picked it up and drive 100 miles out of state and guess what happened! Now taking a $200 Uber ride home with the grandchild and daughter because there was no way we could hang around for 2 1/2 hrs with an infant in the middle of now where until the husband goes there. Beyond frustrated and FORD has been h helpful. They contacted me on this forum and said they contacted dealership but then left me a message asking if I was still having problems ….ummm if you contacted the dealership you would know it’s still there. Then a day later I get a call from them saying to pick up car at dealership because unless issue is happening they can’t fix it..ONCE again ummm if you had actually talked to the dealership you would have known that a problem still existed and they had ordered another part. I just want a car that works that I don’t have to worry stopping while I am driving with the grandkid and getting rear ended!! Seriously worried about putting the kid in the car and won’t until I know it’s safe….stranded twice with an infant is not okay!!! I bought a brand new car because I wanted reliability.

This is the most silly analogy I've ever heard. I think you got my point.

Of course, I fix things myself, and on here, let's just say I feel alone. I was lucky to be raised by a mechanical father. Some people on the site with mechanical aptitude from what I've seen, but not many. Not that kind of forum, and that's cool.

And clearing out trouble codes does not void your warranty guys. They either go away, or come back.if they come back, take it in, or fix whatever code it gives you.

You drove a vehicle that's giving you trouble out of state?

Well it was brilliant because I had faith that when I picked it up it was fixed as I was told by the dealership. So yes that makes sense that I did. Next time i of course will be more cautious until I see a decent amount of time with no issue but if a professional tells me they issue is fixed then I have no reason to believe them. I also don’t appreciate your sarcastic comment….

Not all of us are willing to just clear codes and not get to the bottom of issues. Warranties exist for a reason… no need to bully people who play by the rules
