Well, cam phaser problem at 3,000 miles of my 2024 bronco raptor. Now is in the shop for engine repair. service adviser say will need few weeks in work. the engine have to be pull out and thats a $7000+ job. I know this will be under warranty repair. But this really suck for a $100k car need repair of the same problems pops up for many years in diffent models! my services adviser also told me, he just finish another bronco raptor last week with only 700 miles on it! Thats suck, wonder I should keep the car after repair!

Anyone have done this repair and permanently fix for long run?

If mine, I’d want to know how the Raptor’s cam issue may, or may not have effected the lower portion of the engine.

Did you have an engine failure with complete stop, or some reduced performance, or a clicking/knocking sound?

In any case, gotta believe Ford will get ya fixed.

Cheers

Lemon law? That is a huge problem especially that 700 miles. I came really close on buying one, but just couldnt justify the monthly payments. Don’t hate, but the bronco family I think is at least 10-20k too high in price.

Lemon Law usually applies to unable to remedy problem.
“The law has special refund and replacement provisions for cars that have substantial defects or problems. Such vehicles are commonly called “lemons.” Under the law, if the manufacturer or its authorized dealer has been unable to repair a car’s problem after a “reasonable number of attempts,” the buyer or lessee may go through a manufacturer’s arbitration program, or to court, to seek a replacement vehicle or a full refund of the car’s purchase price (minus a deduction for use of the vehicle).”

Think it’s more than 20K over priced. I could have bought two of my 2.7 Sasquatches for 100K and still had over 5K in the bank…

They are all over priced, that's a large part of why you see many on the lot now.

Never knew of the issue till now. Does this also affect the 24 2.7? All engines and years or how many? Still researching the Bronco. Is it hit or miss if you will have this issue?

Thanks.

depends on how to use this car, many people just buy this type of vehicle going to the mall or just cruising around for sure is bit over kill. but if needed for real off roading etc... which thats what I do for years. I think this car is worth it IMO. For example, buying a 70k LC or 60k 4runner (before dealer mockup) and mod the way to match this raptor, you will need to drop another $25-35K+ or more on it and void all the warranty. I was on this path before LOL, the new path will stick with the warranty as I can! I joined the Offroadeo in NV raptor tour, This car is so capable bone-stock that can handle all these abuse we put to the car. I really like this car, Is ford handling every bad on this engine issues.

So in short due to the hit or miss nature you would not let this deter you from a purchase?

I would not worry about it at all. If it happens on the 2.7 at all, it is very rare. Except for a valve issue on '21 models that were produced in a few week timespan, they have been very reliable.

My 2022 Badlands (2.7l V6) is experiencing this. Just talked to the dealer and the cam phasers need to be replaced at 22,500 miles.

The issue started immediately after a dealership oil change. The engine starts really rough for the first few seconds. If I prime the engine before starting it won’t make the growl/metal scraping noise.

Dealership says it could take a week to get the parts, and another 2-3 days to install.

Ugh. At least it’s covered under warranty.

well, while I'm waiting for all the parts order for the repair services, the cool start noise is gone after about 1000 miles with the cool start noise. that is weird?? the noise ran away, and now i drove over 3000 miles after the noise ran away. i don't think i should have it repair since is back to normal.

Beats me. Mine has not gone away. They estimated parts should take a week. I guess there is a lot of one-time-use bits and bobs that have to be replaced when they replace the cam phasers.

So how did the repair go? I have a 23 wikdtrak sas, and mine started at 24K miles. I’m hesitant to take it in but know it needs fixed asap! Was yours replaced with no issues?

Yup. Took the dealer a month to get the parts, and then another two weeks to get it scheduled (they only have 1 tech that does cam phasers). There are a ton of single use screws that get replaced.

There were no issues at all. I was worried that I would have problems with my modifications since the engine has to be pulled to complete the work, but everything was fine. I’m very happy with the outcome.
