Image CaptionI guess the term rock crawling doesn't apply to me. I am more of a rock speedster. I was going a bit quick climbing Marble Head this weekend with our Bronco Nation gang (see Libations thread) and smashed the trailing arm forward bracket. The amazing thing is it is quite dented; however, there is no damage other than cosmetic. It is still as strong as before and no other issues. We had a great weekend and I guess I got away with it this time. I will be looking into some protection. I believe Foutz Motosports AZ has some. I know I will be getting their diff cover for sure and there shock covers. I may straiten it. I tried this morning. It is going to take a little more effort. I have a welder buddy who would be perfect to look at it. He deals with hard steel all the time. Also, I will probably paint it before I add some other protection if I go that way.

We are second from the left in the banner pic. I basically hit coming up Marble Head where my passenger tire is in this picture.

It takes a licking and keeps on ticking! Way to get out there and use it. I haven't stayed up to date on the Raptor-specific aftermarket -- do you feel like you've seen plenty of options to chose from?

Glad nothing broke!! Yeah, that is Bronco's low hanging chin. Interested to see your protection as we're probably gonna need some too.

Cheers

I haven't looked into it yet. I believe I did see some before from Foutz. I will do a follow up post once I figure out what is out there. I am impressed with how hard I hit and it makes no difference so for. It does keep on ticking!

Following to see what solutions you come up with. I’ve suffered a scrape or two and definitely have tested my BroncBuster shock plates - which are now a mixture of yellow paint an Colorado rock!

Glad to see your rig on the trails and being used to its purpose.

Just uploaded the video of the crunch. Glad nothing serious happened but the sound is cringe worthy.😮

Is that area reenforced on the Raptor. From the picture I cannot tell. I know the Black Diamond Everglades and the Badlands have a little extra meat in that location. But I think ASFIR makes some skids for that. If not try Talon Garage, they make all kinds of armor.

It seems the area is meaty like you say. It it pretty heavy duty to take a hit like that. My friend a welder who does heavy steel looked at it today. He said it did it's job. You would need to heat it and and tap it out which he felt wasn't needed. I am just going to paint it. I mentioned I was going to put on some armor or skids and he thought that would be a good idea to protect it from being damaged more.

I am looking at Foutz Motorsports as I know they are popular with the shock protection and diff protection. I had a quick look today. They look pretty good. Thanks for the other names I will look into them.

Hi there, I'd be happy to look into your Bronco concerns on my end. Will you send us a message with your VIN and dealership info? I can look into things on my end.

OK great. I just posted on "What did you do with your Bronco Today" how I cleaned it up and painted it and am getting some protection installed on the bracket. I will send you the info. Appreciated.
