Recommended oil/fluids for Raptor?

I'm a stickler for changing oils/fluids more frequently than the manufacturer recommends. My other Fords have all had 150K to 250K+ miles with no issues.

My 2024 Raptor is my first "high-performance" Ford vehicle. Is there something I should do differently?

1) What are others using for oil and other fluids?
2) Frequency of changing?

Thanks ...

I'm using Pennzoil Ultra in my 2.7l, change every 5k with a filter. Haven't done the diffs or transfer case or tranny yet...too few miles. But any name brand synthetic would work I would think.

The Motorcraft (Ford OEM brand) oil and filters recommended in the manual are actually really good, so I personally wouldn’t have any problems using them on the Raptor. Combine those with 5,000 mile oil changes and you’ll be good to go.

If you wanted to go the extra mile, Motorcraft also has a fully synthetic oil which are used in their high-performance supercharged vehicles like the Ford GT, Ford Mustang GT 500, and probably the upcoming Mustang GTD. Any Ford dealer should have these oils so if you ever need to take your Raptor in to get serviced you can request they use the Full Synthetic over the blend. Usually they’ll happily do it for a small up-charge.

If you are more the DIY type of guy… Motorcraft Full Synthetic oil is hard to find in stores, but there are lots of other really good “premium” synthetic oils out there. Pennzoil Ultra Platinum and Amsoil Signature Series are probably the best of the bunch, and they have a price to match. But realistically any motor oil that meets the Ford spec listed in the manual will work. In my opinion, having frequent 5,000 mile oil changes is more important than the exact motor oil you use.

Personally I use Motorcraft filters and Motorcraft Full Synthetic oil that I buy from my dealer’s parts counter. The filters comes in bulk packaging, so I get a bulk discount. And best of all, I can pay for it all with FordPass points. I haven’t actually spent cash on my oil changes in about 5 years now.

I was surprised the other day when I found Pennzoil Ultra at the local Walmart in 5 quart jugs, and 1 quart size. For the 5 quart it was about $4-5 more than Mobil 1.

Depending on how you drive, I wouldn't go past 50k on changing the diffs, transfer case, and transmission. Just mu opinion.

This is a statement at the end of an article by Blackstone Lab. They tested unopened oil many decades old. They also had a resent article that claimed time is not an important factor in oil changes, it’s engine miles. They also had a story of oil testing on a vehicle with almost 130k miles that never had an oil change. That oil tested pretty positive.

“So that’s the end of our series. A lot of thought goes into making oil, and that’s been the case for many decades now. We’ve poked some fun at the way oil companies sell their products, but heck, they’ve got to say something. We stand by our statement that “oil is oil” and in the end, it doesn’t make a lot of difference what you decide to use. Through all the years and all the permuta- tions and configurations of oil and oil additives, the crude (and now, synthetic) stuff has kept cars running since Henry Ford did his thing more than 100 years ago. Buy what suits your vehicle and your wallet -- not what anyone else says you should use!”

Somehow people have fallen into wife’s tail oil concepts. “My oil is better than your oil”.

I’m thinking viscosity requirements are most important and that probably doesn’t matter as much as many think.

Do you really want to spend $10 for a quart, or more on oil? Or even $8 ?
