My rear passenger speaker is sounding like it is blown after less than 6 months!! I have not had the volume above 15 at all.

Is this covered under warranty?

Has anyone else had this problem?

I'd assume that you are still within your base warranty, so yes, sure sounds like it'd be covered. Unless the dealer can prove it was something you did to blow the speaker.

Hell, if I still have my base speakers I'd send 1 (or 4) to you. One of my first upgrades was speakers.

My factory speakers weren't in there long enough to possibly blow...I had new Kicker KS series speakers waiting to go in as soon as my Bronco was in my driveway. Next up Kicker Key 200.4 and a powered 8" hideaway sub.

My factory speakers went in the trash...

Speakers will be in soon I am sure. Love my music and systems. I will check out Kicker KS's. I was looking at larger enclosures the other day.

Hey! I can take a closer look into your speak issues. Can you send us a direct message with your VIN and the dealership name/location?

Let me know if the 8" sub makes it worth it. I already have the kicker key 200.4 and a set of 6.5" wakeboard speakers for the back. But cranking up 80's metal tends to create crackling noises. Thinking about adding bass blockers to the rear and possibly a sub, though I'm not looking to blast gangsta rap or anything.

I thought new speakers were everyones first mod!... The only way to blow speakers is to have the volume turned up too high and be listening to bad music.

Once the Kicker Key and sub go in, I'm putting bass blockers on the 4" dash and rear pods...may have dealer unlock the rear speakers since I don't really need or want Forscan.

I wouldn't bother replacing them under warranty as your efforts and money would be MUCH better spent on some Mabett/IAG 6.5 rear speaker pods ( Link Here ) and new speakers.

I originally upgraded the rear pod speakers with new 4" pods and yes, that was better......but nothing as good as the new 6.5 pods and speakers. HUGE IMPROVEMENT!!! I even went all out with the new enclosures and lined the rear pods with metal liner pads and poli-fill. I'd recommend this to every owner out there if they're in the slightest a music junky or have complaints with the current OEM set up.

Good luck on whatever you decide to do.

Are the new speakers plug & play, or do they need new cases, etc?

Thank you for this information! I have the mid package and was trying to be OK with the sound. But, I drove a WT, lux that had a kicker and all new speakers. Ruined it for me. πŸ˜• And, just upgrading the speakers may be more within our abilities. I worry about amps and kickers - it was an annual replacement thing in one of my Jeeps. This sound simple and an improvement!

I had the B&O......and still upgraded......and would do it all over again. I typically have long drives (WA to Death Valley/Moab or visiting fiends in CA and AZ) so having good tunes and a solid sound system is a must. Don't get me wrong, if you're happy with what you got then cool.....if not, several good options out there. By no means is this a must do.....but it worked for me.

The new rear speakers in the larger pods just sound better then where I was at. I know adding the insulation matting and poly-fill also helped in all the speaker areas (as others have suggested).

To illustrate, here's a comparison of the OEM 4" pod and the new 6.5 pods.......

Yes and no.....which speakers are you asking about? The general answer is, any aftermarket speaker needs an adapter (to plug into the OEM connectors) or change the connector (if you're comfortable doing wiring, not hard).

If you're referring to the rear pods, the above post to Darrel should illustrate the difference in size between the pods......but you'll still need new 6.5 speakers.

I figure I will blow a speaker. A when, not an if thing. So, I'm putting some thout on what I will do.
Agree that a good stereo is important on long road trips. But when you have limited knowledge and don't know someone you can trust, you do a lot of adjustments on the sound. I had a nasty claim come in on a sound system company. Messed up the front axle on an Dodge truck. I didn't work the claim. But about $8k was paid. I had just got my Bronco. I went, nope. Rather settle for less than perfect than that headache.

WOW!! Yeah, thats something! I'd tell you, I am NOT an audiophile or a car stereo expert but I know a think or two on wiring and could hook up a basic system etc....... I just wouldn't be the guy that says.... "Oh, you need an Ohm turned up here" or "You need more tweets to offset the highs", "That amp needs.....". I'm sure there are WAAAAAY more qualified people in the stereo section here that can help you on specifics or which components they'd suggest.

What I can say for sure, it's not hard to change out the speakers in the Bronco. It's not rocket science on lining the surrounding speaker location with sound matting and fill the space with Poly-Fill and rewire the speakers. If this is your first time then I could understand the hesitation. I'm sure if you meet someone at a local meet, they can guide you though it. If you're already knowledgable about the basics then YouTube has the rest of your answers. Lots of info and step by step guides there I found.

Good luck!πŸ‘

Wow people, most enlightening. In taking my first step into Bronco SOUND.... One question I will start with is: How about the stock radio output, that is, does it have the watts to drive these big speakers? My guess is NO. Or is an amp involved. If an amp, then where did you find a good place to locate it? Anyone put in a 'old school reverb' ? just curious. I would like to start on my sound system now. I have a stock Big Bend with all the obligatory accs. you know, the bug deflector, the window vents, the rear bumprer guard, the rubber bad weather floormats and of course an Amazon sourced CD player. Done.....! OK now for SOUND.. Likely I would need to amp it up ?
I would need the quality speakers ! 'a given'
A bit of wiring plug conversion ?
Pods ?
I want to keep the interior looking basically untouched and in my stock speaker locations. To tell you e truth, I haven't even counted the number of speakers that I already have ?? I know....................... but it's not LaZy, instead I am a Paraplegic and can walk with crutches, but for only very short distances....ie. tens of feet before pain of excruciating amplitude is manifest...... uh, it dang-well is un-doable for me. So bearing that in mind and the fact my Daughter is a Ford Service manager/tech person, I may not have to source this out to Car Audio shops. I am on a journey at his point to upgrade. I will be watching you and your posts indeed. I will gleen from all of you the good and not so good, then I will act.......I will learn........

She will help..myDaughter Ford Service/tech
