I have a base model from the very first batch out of 2021 with the oxford white paint job. It seems to be developing a problem with the paint flaking off. Anyone else notice this with Oxford White or any of the other colors. The flakes are very small but seem to be multiplying. Flaking location is random. hood and doors so far.

No I haven't gone wheeling through a lot of brush and branches.

Yes pics please. Over the last year we've taken note of 3-4 minor paint issues. Yes, the paint is also very thin. The most common spot to check first is your tailgate hinges. Also fisheyes on the hood. Paint also needs correcting via claybar because of rail dust when being transported from mfg to dealer. Overall it looks good but not uncommon to have at least 1 or 2 paint issues on bronco.

Unfortunately have to agree…going to be hard arguing that isn’t rock chips, but always worth a shot. A decent detailing shop with some touch up paint should be able to correct those chips worse case scenario

Yeah, looks kinda like rock chips on the leading edge of the hood. I got them too. Then I put on some ppf…

I had those early. I figured they were rocks. I've been doing enough offroading that I don't care anymore. Eventually, I'll just wrap it and move on. Let the rocks come!

Personally, if anything, I think these paint jobs are too thick—because when I got a couple chips on my doors before installing my mud flaps, I was amazed by the depth of them. There seemed to be a good amount of concave space down to that bare metal.

In my opinion, I feel THAT’S why these paint jobs are susceptible to rock chips—the greater thickness of the paint job creates a condition of softness overall. Therefore, when you get a rock flying at it, it’s going to chip away more easily, rather than be resilient.

I do love my Cyber Orange tri-coat though. I feel Ford’s paint jobs are quite stunning and are of better quality overall compared to what I’m used to from Jeep. My Jeeps had rust in the paint jobs from day 1. At least I can take steps to avoid/reduce rock chips on my Bronco. Couldn’t do anything about the rust in the paint of my Jeeps.
