New 2024 Wildt4ak - Towing harness?

Hello fellow Bronco nuts. *Yes I see the fat thumb mistake in my header*
So I traded in my 2 door Wildtrak (2022) for a 4 door Wildtrak (2024). It was canceled order but unfortunately the person failed to order the tow package. I looked into buying the ford sites 7/4pin kit and was quoted a horrific $1300 (probably assuming no wires) for the dealer to install. When I went under the bumper to see about any physical limitations, I found this harness/plug, foil wrapped and capped under a protective brace in the center of the rear cross member. Call me crazy, but this looks to be a harness pre-wired for tow package. Any thoughts there? If this is indeed the harness for towing package, a hitch/plug setup and maybe software update seems like all that needs to happen?

The wiring is indeed pre-installed but you are missing the Trailer Tow Module and obviously the receiver/connector to make it all work. Without the Trailer Tow Module your trailer wiring will not be fully functional.

Wow $500 ain’t cheap for that, but it is much better than $1300. Man I wish the MY22 came with that. I had to add a 4 pin and a hitch to mine , didn’t order the hitch because I did want it to hold up my 2 year old order. Lol.

It was a pleasant surprise for sure. I watched a guy holding a camera and he did nearly the whole install (with module), one handed. The software, he must've been a ford tech because he had factory software to update the bronco. Maybe forscan has a way, but I'd rather not mess with that. Though I did add rock crawl to my last wildtrak (for the nice throttle, obviously no stay bar disconnect). Also, to enable my remote window up and kill that annoying double honk. Back to my point, adding a whole tow/haul mode seems a bit more suited for the dealer to do. Assuming they only charge a little for it.

I get it. I wouldn't mess with that one either. That is a good looking Wildtrak why did you move to 4-doors?

Good question. Although the 2 door was fantastic for my trips to Bronco Knoll and Moab...I found that the necessity to climb over a seat for passengers, also having a dog crate in the back seat and the game of Costco tetris was becoming less appealing when the 4 door is ~97% as effective off-road.
Oh, and my 2022 just missed the HOSS 3.0 standardization on the Wildtrak 😉

Thank you for the link. Just spoke with service...they said $225 for programming if I do this kit myself. Makes me think I'm in the wrong industry but not horrible. At least not $1300 horrible.
