Sometimes my base 2-door Bronco bucks violently during acceleration in first or second gear. It has nothing to do with possibility of stalling due to low RPMs. When this happens, feeding in more acceleration only makes bucking worse. Remedy is to push clutch to floor & rev engine a bit. Shifting up to third gear works too. It is annoying when it occurs, and I wonder if there is something wrong with the transmission. I was hoping to teach my daughter this summer on how to drive a manual shift. However, I have safety concerns. For example, what if this happens when I’m not in the car and her reaction is to apply acceleration instead of pushing in the clutch. I'm working with dealership to try and resolve, but wanted to ask the community if anyone else has experienced this. Does anyone know if Ford put out any service bulletins on this? Do you have any advice?

I haven't had issues like this that weren't related to low rpms/stalling. What year is your Bronco?

Something is wrong. I have not experienced anything like that in 30K miles.

Yes, I experience this also. It's every month or two. And after at the golf course for ~ 2 hours. I return to my 4-door manual and start it up and take off gently down the road. As I spin up the gears in 2nd it just bucks like lack of fuel or no air flow or something. Pressing in the clutch fully, calms it down then it's back to normal. Currently my dealership wants me to document it somehow...but i dont see how. :(

Its not the transmission, its the engine that the problem.

does it do it only when the engine is cold?

I have a 4 door '21. Mine does it once and awhile too. Seems like maybe the engine is warming up or has something to do with that..it only does it when starting out of the driveway after starting it up sometimes. Pushing in the clutch stops it. And it is AFTER the clutch is let out and I start going up the road in 1st approaching 2nd gear shift. Has done it since day 1.

Thank you. How do I send a private message? I'll be dropping off my 2022 Bronco at Koons Ford Baltimore on Saturday hoping they can diagnose this issue. I'm also asking them to diagnose a grinding sound that seems to emanate from drivetrain and occurs upon engine start-up.

If this is a known issue and @mahonj if you find a TSB or known issue, please share as my dealer cannot find the issue as it is random. Engine is not "cold". As it was previously driven and only sat for about 1 hour in 70 degree weather. So I would call it "luke warm"

Thanks to everyone that chimed in on my post. My 2022 base manual is currently being serviced at local Ford dealer. There is indeed something wrong with my MT88 trans. In fact, the service dept says the grinding noise that accompanies engine start-ups (others have described as sounding like marbels) - which I did not mention in my original post - is related to the trans problem. One thing that is kind of weird, the Tech Service Bulletin (23-2409) that the service dept provided me a copy of says, "MT88 Manual Transmission - No 3rd gear and / or grinding noise going into 3rd and / or 4th gear." My car has not had this issue in 3rd or 4th gears. It is 1st & 2nd gears. Wish me luck!

I know there was an issue w some syncro rings on some of the manual gear boxes which would cause a grinding noise.But i would think that is something totally unrelated. A gear grinding because the synco rings are bad would be different than the motor rev issue we were originally talking about.

Well, whatever it is, my local Ford dealer now has my Bronco for the next 3-6 weeks (according to a service rep I spoke with yesterday) to figure it out. Not thrilled.
