I bought a 2024 Bronco to pull behind my Newmar Baystar Motorhome, because of its ability to be flat towed. Before reading anything about it, I had the motorhome dealer install everything on the Bronco so that it can be flat towed including baseplate, tow bar, and braking system. When I went to pick it up and tow the Bronco home for the first time, I was advised by the dealership that there has been some documented instances when flat towing the Bronco, it slips out of neutral tow mode while being towed and then when arriving at destination, discover that the transmission has been destroyed because of it. After hearing about it, I started searching the web, and sure enough, I found numerous sites discussing this problem, so now I am extremely worried about continuing with flat towing. Is anyone else in this forum flat towing a 2024 Bronco, and have you run into this issue. I am scheduled to leave for Florida from Michigan next week and the last thing I want to do is arrive with a burnt up transmission.

RVIBrake make a kit to keep the battery charged from the tow vehicle. i am going to install one in my Raptor. if the battery dies that is when it could happen.

In addition to preventing the battery issue mentioned above, which is key, people have printed out checklists to follow, plus recorded the steps before leaving to show their dealership in case of failure (though this hasn't helped some people). Practice the steps of putting it in and taking it out of flat tow, and be careful to not get distracted when doing so. Finally, some people, after putting it in flat tow, will have a partner double check the Bronco's wheels are in motion to make sure they aren't dragging before heading out.

I have read about the battery running low and kicking the trans out of neutral tow. The thing is our battery fired up the car just fine. Sorry, confidence is low that an added charging device will make a difference. We always double check our connections and roll to insure all wheels turning. Currently husband drives RV and I drive Bronco separately. Double fuel cost but haven't found a trailer that can accommodate 10k payload and be safely towed behind RV despite it being a diesel. It's on the list.

I would go to R&R trailer and get a very nice aluminum flat bed. I have had one since 2011, many trips to AZ and Montana and the UP. Fellow MI guy. No issues with the trailer. I have read to many horror stories about flat tow tails, and the Bronco is only 4-5 years old.

and no I don't work for or get any kick back from R&R. :0)

I’ve been flat tow my 2022 Bronco for over 2 years using a Demco Air Force One and it works great. I don’t use anything to charge the battery. In the beginning I did have issues putting it in tow mode and it would say it’s in tow mode but the wheels would still be locked. It was flaky. Then Ford applied a software update and no more problems. 2 years and 1,000s of miles and it’s been solid.

I installed the battery charger and just towed my Bronco from Michigan to Crtral Florida with no issues. I just made sure it was actually in neutral tow after booking it up and then checked to be sure it stayed in neutral tow whenever I got gas, and everything g worked great.
