Just curious what others are doing; I'm considering doing the flood Ford service plan, thinking 6years 75K miles but I'm kinda at a pass between the Extra or the Premium. I bought a Stock black diamond (only upgrade 2.7L) so not a lot electronic BS in it, but only the premium covers the head unit. My question is how have Fords touch screens held up in other vehicles My wife leases BMW's and the last 2 have had issues with touch screens also My 2012 JK touch screen craped out at about 70K. I mean its only $350 more for the Prem but half the crap it covers I don't even have

The problem with the ESP is that Service can never find the problem as described, and it's $100 every time you bring it in. Although I will admit, if you have the 10 speed automatic, you might seriously consider the ESP. Been there, done that. On the lighthearted side of all this. When I traded my 2019 Ranger in for my 2022 Bronco I got a call several days later asking why I didn't tell them the radio was bad. Fortunately, I had brought it in, and I paid the $100 and they couldn't find anything wrong with the radio. My salesman went to the manager, and I got my $100 refunded. Should your radio give you grief, this is what worked for me. Turn off the radio before turning off the car. When I failed to do that, the radio wouldn't work but when I did do that, the radio worked. Go figure....Go Ford, LOL

I have both the Extended Service Plan and the Service Plan thru Ford on my F150 and love them both. I have them both for 84 months and 150k miles. No wipers, brake pads, air, cabin, fuel or oil filters EVER. No cost oil changes for EVER. After my 3/36 runs out, I still get either loaner of Ford Pickup Service where they come and Flatbed my truck to and from dealership when service is due. Also works at ANY FORD dealership including Canada and Mexico.

I went for the 8yr/100k ESP and opted for the $50 deductible for like $1750 thru Flood Ford. I also added the lighting & key fob replacement at $0 deductible.

I figured the $350 savings over the $0 deductible for the main stuff translates to almost 1.5 visits/yr (for years 4-8) for a warranty repair which seemed to be a lot. My 260k Ford Pass points covered a good chunk of the expense and I got in before the 2022 price increase.

Overall I hope it was a good buy but only time will tell. Like any insurance product, I am hedging against myself…

That's funny, the tranny is the main reason I'm getting the plan. I know of 2 people that have had issues with them one was just under the 50k mark and the other a little over, the co-worker had a F150 that was just over 50k and spent over 4K getting it resolved. The stories Ive read on line it seems that if you make it to 65K you likely will not have any issues

You’re buying peace of mind. One serious problem pays for the plan and then some. I have the Flood Ford 8/125 ESP premium plan and the 13 oil change maintenance plan.

I'm going to ask the STUPID question to the group.

Is there any reason why you wouldn't just get the BaseCare or PowertrainCare plan vs. the PremiumCare plan?

Allow me to take it further.
1. I NEVER buy the extended warranty, have always had good luck with all my vehicles.
2. Biggest concern is the turbos. Never had turbo up until now. Will my turbos last 200k miles? That's how long I keep my vehicles.
3. Second biggest concern is transmission. I do not care for the 10 speed to begin with, but it's been around for a few years. Will that last 200k miles?
4. I drive between 25k-30k / year. So obviously the 3/36 doesn't do shit for me. So if I did decide to go this route, it'd be somewhere in the 5yr./125k range.

Obviously everyone has their reasons for picking the plan that you do, but figured it'd be interesting to see people's thought process on it.

I'm going to wait till the end of the factory warranty before I make a decision. I'll better be able to determine if others like yourself that put on a lot of miles are having issues and what kind of issues mine has had up to that point. If they are pretty rock solid, then I may not get anything.
That being said, none of this makes a difference to you since you'll be at the end of your powertrain warranty in a couple of years.
Is there a downside waiting till your warranty is almost over?

The main reason I purchase the extended warrantee when it comes to Ford, is their transmissions. They're not exactly bullet proof. I heard many bad things about the 10-speed automatic, so when I bought my 2019 Ranger, I bought the 5/100 warrantee. Granted, I never had the transmission go out, but it shifted terribly and I'm sure it was just a matter of time. Ironically, my issue was with my radio and the dealership couldn't find/fix the problem. That is until I traded the Ranger in for the Bronco, and they complained that I didn't tell them the radio was out. That's when I provided them the work order showing I brought it in for radio issues. I ran into my salesman, told him the story and he got me my $100 back (deductible) It took the dealership 3 months to get a new radio to replace the one in the truck, and they're just now selling it.

That said, with all the "chip" issues, I think I would be looking into a extended warrantee

You'll pay full price for an extended warrantee if you're anywhere close to 36K on the clock. You can usually get an extended warrantee for somewhere between 75% to 80% if you buy it when you take delivery

Yeah I got a quote from him a few months ago. If I remember correctly (and that's a stretch), they were coming in a little lower than the other 2 guys who offer it online. (now you're gonna make me want to try and find that dm on B6G... luckily it was with my more recent non-banned account).

Edit: OK I lied. It was through email and not DM. But yeah, their price was about $200 cheaper. So a good deal for sure. Looks like I had them quote 3/75 and 4/100. I should reach back out to them and get a price on 5/125.

It's been many years since I last owned a Ford, but then again, I had my Tacoma for 15 years, so I'm a newbie to Ford's extended warranties & service products. I also have never bought an extended warranty on a car; I bought one for the first time on my Triumph. Does the service plan pay for itself over a number of uses? i.e. a season ski pass pays for itself after say 7 times and than every use is free, or price per day goes down with each time.

I am getting the manual so the above comments on the auto transmission don't apply, but how are Ford's manuals? If I can afford the cost of wheeling and travel more, than I'll be putting around 12k miles per year, if less travel (gas costs), then maybe as low as 10k. So, what's a good plan? I hope the Bronco is my last car and I'm still driving it in 20 years.

Bronco & Trucks, I haven't heard anything bad. The Mustangs (real Mustangs, not 5.0) you would want a good Dana rear-end

My concern for the new Broncos is the chip situation. I have to believe that Q/A is suffering as they do any and everything to get the units to the dealership

I'm not anywhere near getting my Bronco yet, (2023?), but might consider the ESPs. What kind of cost are people paying for them?
I did one on my 2011 Lincoln MKX. It was nice to have the oil changes paid for. I never had anything major go wrong. The ESP ran out at 100K miles. I'm now at 196K. I haven't fully examined the costs to see if it was worth it in the end, but the peace of mind was good to have, plus the free loaner car while it was in the shop.

Totally agree. I'll be getting one of the plans there is no doubt in my mind that I will end up using it. And knowing what thieves the stealerships are, they can victimize FORD ESP not my bank acct when one of these expensive tranny/electronic/drivetrain issues occur. Until then I love my Bronco but this is good insurance IMO.

I did 6 years 75K Extra-care from Granger. My dealer was all but double the price for the same coverage, I did think long and hard about premium but I just could not justify the extra $250 when my Bronco is pretty much stock black diamond

$250 is 2 hours labor at the dealer. The way mechanics/dealers make money is:
1. Parts-they are always WAY overpriced
2. Labor. Now that said they go by the "book time" of what the job is supposed to take. Now that is usually generous and good mechanics, (and they deserve it IF THEY ARE good mechanics) can usually beat that time with experience, the right tools, being smart, etc. So the mechanic who works an 8 hour day, CAN, if the book time is over generous or he is really good (Or if he does a shitty fast job too..) complete more, sometimes WAY MORE than 8 hours of charged labor in an 8 hour shift. And that's how you can be overcharged both ways, not only for parts, but the tax on the overpriced parts and the labor which was actually less that what was worked. So when someone ELSE, like the Ford ESP is paying for it, parts and labor, I give zero F#cks how much it is, just when I get my truck back and hopefully if I get a good rental, which I am driving like a stole it, is not excessively long.

I always elect for $0 deductible when it makes sense. When I bought my ESP on my Porsche Macan Turbo, the zero deductible was cost prohibitive, so I went with the disappearing deductible. You should see if this is an option, means if you take the Bronco in for service at the selling dealer, the deductible is zero.
