Unfortunately the dealership told me that because "the dirt would be hard to miss" it couldn't be warrantied.

So...
The only thing wrong with the Alternator (sorry, I mean Ricky) was that it was full of dirt?

Its wrong that Ford declines coverage if you offroad in your bronco. They did same with Gen1 Raptor.

Ford at its best. Ford sells the bronco has an off-road vehicle and the customer takes the vehicle off road. There’s a problem and Ford tells the customer tough luck. . Sounds like a Ford thing. Ford motor company if you read this then go look in the mirror and ask yourself what’s wrong here.

I've done sooo much worse in my 79. After over 2 DECADES of brutal abuse, I slapped a Chevy 1-wire on there because it was easier than fixing the old brittle wiring harness, even though the original alternator was still working. After 20 years of mud and abuse with not even inner fender wells, that one is still working great. So 40+ years of technological advancement has got us here? Where I can't get my Bronco dirty or it will quit working?? It's ok, Chevy can't make an engine that doesn't need lifters every 70k miles, and, well, our 2.7s will probably need timing chain guides every 70k, I mean mechanical reliability doesnt exist anymore. I just hate that I sold that 2007 Corolla, probably the last reliable and affordable vehicle on the planet

Clueless engineers. Mounting the alternator at the bottom of the engine is failing common sense 101...

@mitchcreel is a genius. Do silly stuff in your Bronco while on video, that way when it breaks I can film yourself fixing it and (maybe) recuperate the costs it takes to fix it.

---

Anyway... for those of you folks with a 2.3L EcoBoost... the alternator is under the battery tray on the driver's side of the engine. It's a probably a good 3-6 inches higher off the ground than the 2.7L (which may be why Ford picked the the 2.3L for the Everglades, maybe?), behind it's own shield. You can access it from the top rather than the bottom, but you still have to get access from the bottom to remove a few bolts. Also... the belt has a traditional tensioner on it, so no need for silly belt tools.

Do not get the alternator confused with the A/C compressor. The A/C compressor is essentially in the same spot that the alternator is on the 2.7L. Also... don't tell my brother "hey how does your alternator look with those A/C lines stickin' out of it?" otherwise you may trigger repressed memories.

Might be good for likes on your YT channel, but running your Bronco through that huge mud puddle for an hour like that, over and over again and then posting it on line for BIG BROTHER to watch might, just might not be covered under warranty….🤣
Great Video!

As always very entertaining video @mitchcreel

Sorry your dealership didn’t warranty the alternator and clearly this is a tragic engineering faux pas form @Ford Motor Company since it is clearly gonna get dirty based on its design.

I'm inclined to agree with the posters who are, well, disenchanted by Ford's refusal to replace the alternator under warranty. I'm going to dig into the warranty guide to see if there's anything specifically forbidding this conduct. Mitch was literally doing what Ford's professional off-road drivers were doing in their marketing campaign ads. Mixed messages, anyone?
Chris here. I drive a 2-door Velocity Blue 2023 Ford Bronco Badlands with Sasquatch, Lux, a 2.7L V6, and an automatic transmission. It’s fun.

I have a gut feeling that big brother is watching me... we post Bronco carnage too often 😂 I think others have a better shot to get it covered
