My wife got into the Bronco in the morning to a cracked windshield. She remembers something hitting the windshield the day before, but there was no visible damage. ๐Ÿ˜ญ

Unfortunately this is a really important issue. These vehicles are going to eat windshields. Make sure to have windshield replacement on your insurance or seriously look into windshield protection film.

We have about 6000 miles. I just dropped my deductible for windshield down to $100.

Yep, been there done that. Got rock chips right from the beginning. The more vertical position of the windshield allows rock strikes to do more damage than more sloped position windshields. I had ExoShield, windshield protectant film, installed. Not enough history to know how it will hold up and perform over the long run. So far, so good.

After 23,000 miles and dozens of rock pops, my ExoShield finally couldn't handle it and a rock got through and put a bullseye in the windshield. No regrets about the protective film.

Getting exoshield installed on Thursday. And if you have had it installed for more than ten seconds, it is working! How is the clarity on it, especially at night?

Clarity, there is a slight tint. To me it is not noticeable, night or day. ExoShield takes sunlight to cure. If possible have it installed on a sunny day.

I'm sorry to hear your windshield took a hit, @Crawler Green. I think everyone here can empathize even if it hasn't (yet) happened to them. I'm a huge believer in windshield protective films and coatings. Good call, @TK1215!

One of the things they told us to do at the Bronco Off-Roadeo was to increase driving distances between ourselves and the cars ahead of us. I guess some sustained damage between the lodge and the trailhead.

I've tried to avoid driving on the shoulder or across medians at entrance/exit ramps because they seem to be a magnet for road debris that can become a projectile when another car drives over it. Obviously, it's wise to be cautious around road crews and road work in general.

I hope your Bronco gets a new shield soon and everything is good as new! ๐Ÿ˜˜

You might check out this film that I got, its a bit cheaper, and the exo shield installer I talked to said it would last about the same amount of time and was actually a little more protective. Its a DIY install, though. https://www.grab-gard.com/products/ford-bronco-windshield-protection-kit

I've had mine on for almost 6 months now and its been great.

So I have had my Bronco for a month and ten days. First thing I had installed was ExoShield, the first week. Fast forward to driving today heading out of town for Christmas. Two lanes, rolling in the slow lane at about 75 MPH, when an old Silverado with tires 8 inches wider than the fenders with no mud flaps blows by me in the fast lane. And just for the hell of it he moves back in front of me for no damn good reason. As my daughter is saying, โ€you know he is gonna kick up a rockโ€, he does. About a nice 1/2โ€œ piece, right off the passenger side window. Put three little chips in a triangle pattern right where it plinked off. But no windshield damage. Money well spent. Moved back to the left and a couple of minutes later as I passed him he flipped off my daughter. Now that is the old Christmas spirit! What a cork soakerโ€ฆ.

I'm sorry to hear about your exchange with another driver, @TK1215. Did the stone chip the ExoShield or your wrap? What are your thoughts on clarity and night driving with the material? I'm considering getting it done myself. One estimate was between $500-$600 and another was for $650. Is that in the ballpark? Would you recommend this more highly than PPF or ceramic coating? I appreciate your thoughts on all of the above.

XPEL PPF is perfect. ExoShield has a three point triangle shaped impact. No damage to windshield. It did its job perfectly. That rock would have definitely broken the windshield. Not even thinking of replacing it.

I'm glad to hear your investment was proven sound, @TK1215! I'm definitely going to get the ExoShield. The only question is which shop is going to do it. The one with the lower estimate has never used ExoShield; they're getting trained and certified on its use now. The other shop, with the higher estimate, has been using it for a while. The question is, is their familiarity with the product worth the extra $50?

The shop with the lower estimate is probably the shop I'm going to use for the PPF and/or the ceramic coating, so I could just keep it simple and give them all my money. LOL

I have had my Bronco since September of 21. 20k miles and 3 windshield chips later I agree with other posts. It is just going to happen. And that is why I haven't swapped it out yet. I have zero experience with window treatments or shields, but they certainly can't hurt.
The Broncobis a super cool truck, but it has the windshield of a tractor.

I purchased the windshield protection when I bought the Bronco just from what I've been told from Jeep drivers and their issues. No regrets.

My windshield just cracked. Comes down from behind rearview mirror. Took it to the dealer who confirmed there was no point of impact. Called it a stress crack. Ford would only fix for 12 month/12k miles. I have 24 months/13k miles. ๐Ÿ˜ Now going thru insurance, but can't understand why Ford wouldn't fix.

I feel your pain. I picked up my new Bronco from the dealer last week and the windshield took a rock chip during transport from the MAP to the dealer. The windshield is completely cracked. The transport company is supposed to fix it, but who knows when a windshield will be in stock. This happens a lot with vertical windshields. I had an FJ Cruiser and had to replace the windshield almost every year I owned it.
