Compliance Recall Notice 22C27 / NHTSA Recall 22V825
Got a letter from Ford regarding my 2021 Black Diamond. This recall involves a software update to correct "When driving your vehicle in 4WD Low mode, the rear view camera image may reappear on the Sync screen after completing a backing event."

Did you receive an actual letter or an email? Also, I wonder if this will be for all 2021’s?

I got an actual letter. It’s fixed via a software update that is over the air. Northing major.

Not all, just 21-22 Broncos with the 8" screen (read more).

Got the same letter a few weeks back.
Unfortunately, the dealer told me it's like a 4 hour process.
I told them I could care less, probably won't use 4 low anyways, and if I do, I doubt I'd be distracted by the rear camera popping up. 👀

I'm not sure how Ford pushes the over the air updates, but when the news broke, mine said it was up to date. A week later, on Nov. 24, I got an alert my Bronco updated (Ford Power-Up 3.5.4) and this was included. So if you have your updates on WiFi, you may already be covered. But I also got my recall notice sent a lot earlier than this. Curious how they are batched.

Did anything come throught the FordPass app? I feel that it is in some ways underutilized by Ford.

Yes if your Bronco is connected to your home wifi while in garage (our outside if signal reaches) and OTA updates turned on then your (collectively speaking) Bronco should of already fixed itself.

Apart from the update its really a rather silly recall but I suppose it did distract some. Me personally I wouldn't mind having rear camera on fulltime especially in 4WD LO. Makes me think of my late dad's 80s motorhome with the rear camera in back on all the time (loved it) and the 2023 Infinity QX80 which also has a button to turn on rear camera all the time even when driving around town. So this recall is a bit much.

I think Ford should have just sent everyone instructions on how to turn on OTA updates and just let the Bronco fix itself vs bruise vehicle history with another recall.

I agree with NT Automotive just send instructions to all 21, 22's. it would be cheaper in the long run and nobody loses time

Total speculation but I wanted to add that this recall probably came about because some mooch most likely tried to file a lawsuit against Ford because of a minor "glitch" that caused them to crash in 4LO. The sad thing is Ford caved + there are terrible people out there looking daily for any way to falsely get rich quick these days at the expense of others.

What screen do you go to find the over the air software update?

This was an over the air update sent out. I believe the affected vehicles were 2021 and there is nothing we had to do to install it. The only thing you will ever see is that your system is up to date.

It hasn’t installed in my vehicle. Like you say it says all up to date. Maybe my Wi-Fi isn’t strong enough in my garage.

I have my Bronco set to not connect. Call it paranoid or not, but is likely why I've had no update. I'll unblock it and see if it updates (then block it again).

This happened to my '22. I turned the truck off and re-started it and it went away. I'll see if I can get this thing to update. Maybe they can fix the Stink 4 radio too

I received the following recall notices: 23V-358, 23C-398Customer Satisfaction Program 23B35 for my 2021 WildTrac. All were formal letters sent by Ford. I'm having a hard time getting my Ford dealer to schedule an appointment to correct them. Anyone else having the same problem

What are they for? I just had two taken care of. One for the seatbelt and the other was for the wiper motor recalibration. No issue getting it in and taken care of. Your first one is for the seatbelt. Will take five minutes. Your last one is for the wiper motor. They have to do an over the air update at the dealership. Maybe an hour for that. Looking for 23C398
