Clicking Noise

I bought a used 2022 Bronco Badlands in October 2024. The vehcicle has been great but for a 'clicking' noise that seems especiallty pronounced during cold weather. I found a number of other Bronco owners had similar issues and varying ways to fix it. I chose to put Heat Shrink Tube over the 4 metal pins. It may have worked for a few days/weeks (or not) but the clicking is continuous and annoying.

Does anyone have a permanent fix?

Is this a warranty issue that I can address with Ford?

I appreciate your assistance!!

Roof latch pins?
Yes. That seems to be the source and where I installed the heat shrink tubing

Chasing noises can be frustrating, especially with the roof. You can see if your dealer will help you, but what may be silent when you leave could reappear at the next bump. Some people have found success by adjusting the latches, either by tightening or with the actual position of them, moving them a fraction back, etc. I don't know how many people have found a permanent fix, since there seems to be multiple reasons why one Bronco has a noise vs. another. I don't have many sounds other than wind, and for that, I just turn up the radio 😬 I hope one fix WILL work for good for you, though!

As weird as it sounds, cleaning the seals with a silicone based cleaner can sometimes help. I use Pedro's Bike Lust a couple of times a year, especially after a really dusty ride. It dresses and quiets up the seals in some cases. I had what I thought was a terrible rattle coming from the rear top, but it was the rear window seal. https://a.co/d/8JXSSst

Yeah, cleaning our MIC hard top panels' seals with silicone lube seems to help. We do a seasonal Bestop soft top change and during these changes give those seals some TLC twice a year. Probably not a total solution, but don't notice those squicks, clicks, rattles, etc any more.

Cheers

I have to keep one of my middle latches unlocked to keep mine from rattling.

Thank you. I'll play with the latches.

Cleaning and lubricating really helps a lot, down here in AZ. Colder weather and when doing extensive off road activities really make the top click and pop

I have a clicking also. But it’s nothing to do with the top. Mine is when I make a tight left turn. Nothing going right. Just left. Anyone else?

Does it sound like it's coming from inside the vehicle, or could it be a suspension noise? Does it happen every time you turn left?

It’s definitely outside. Yes. Pretty much every left turn. Sometimes more noticeable than others. It’s not a rub or like something is bottoming out. Not a squeak. If I can record it I will. I don’t know if I can upload a recording or not. It’s going into ford dealer for that and a couple other things week after next. If something is found out I’ll post it.

  • Can you be more specific of where in the vehicle you are hearing the clicking sound? Also, you mention 4 metal pins- which pins?
