Back up camera freezing / pausing

I've noticed that within the last couple of months when I put the Bronco in reverse the camera comes on and then pauses for 3-5 seconds. Super annoying... I would say it does this 3 out 5 times. Just wondering if anyone else has had this issue and what was done to fix it? I will probably take it in to the dealership, but they usually want to keep it a week to just look at the issue, plus I am outside my warranty now.

Sure, it is a full size 2022 Outerbanks with the Lux package - 12" screen. Mostly the back up camera thing, but the screen did go black last night on the way home, once I shut it off and turned it back on it came back on...

possible things to do before going to dealer….

1. Software up-to-date?
2. SOFT update of radio, vehicle on, hold radio power and fast forward buttons for 5 seconds, everything will go dark for a few seconds and then will come back.

Check other Ford/Bronco Forums…. Some are helpful, some are not…

Same issue with mine since the last software update. I put it in reverse camera comes on freezes up for a few seconds and then works, also my radio will come on on start up sometimes and the screen will stay black for several minutes before it comes on. Mine is a 22 OUTER BANKS LUX

I'm with you, it seemed to appear around the same time as the update.

They mentioned this problem last night on The Ford Video Guy’s livestream. I think it’s going to take some time before the parts and official recall notice are gathered and issued respectively.

Please do keep us posted. I’ve had my screen also go dark a number of times that I just put off as typical tech behavior since it appears random and I haven’t been able to replicate it. I just restart the Bronco and all is good again.

Is it accompanied by loud disturbing sound from the speakers jarring you? If so yes. I recorded it happening on my phone with a date and time stamp and texted it to the service manager to have it documented in a service order while still under warranty. Most times things dissappear temporarily while at the dealership having a recording may help them.
Also a '22 OBX LUX here.

I think I noticed the loud sound when it would freeze up all together, but not so much when it just pauses for a couple of seconds... Glad you were able to document it with a video.

I experienced the same issue. Happened almost every time I put it in reverse. And it was accompanied by loud screeching noises through the speakers. ‘22 Wildtrack with Lux.

The issue went away after the last system update (automatic, did not visit a dealership). But just like you, I had to live with it for almost 3 months.

Not sure if it’s related but most of my USB-C charging ports didn’t work during that time. Devices would show the charge symbol for a second and then stopped charging. Checked all fuses and they were OK. Also mysteriously resolved now…

That is interesting, I did notice that about the USB-C, but thought my cord was bad - changed the cord and didn't even think to check it after that. SO I probably threw away a good cord then... 😂
