2 lane paved road in town, 640 am, nobody else on the road, no sidewalks, 55 degrees, BANG! Complete destruction of the back window like so many others, glass all came into the back of the car. 8000 miles on the 2024 Badlands 2 door drive for pleasure vehicle. Driving 40mph, there's no way anyone could have thrown something as I was moving away (nobody was around anyway).
Ford dealer said bring it in same day, took pictures, and 3 weeks later said Ford denied it was manufacturing defect. Suprise. They gave me the Ford number to plead my case (1-800-392-3673) who took 10 minutes of information, waited 5 minutes and said, "we can't pay for the labor," to which I asked if that meant they were going to pay for the materials but no the labor, and she said, "we don't have any programs to offer you at this time." Huh? She repeated there was nothing they could do. [case #CXH-06070862-P8R9H3].
A quick search online finds tons of these, so I filed a complaint with NHTSA (tracking 11697925). Suggest everyone with same issue work to see if we can get a recall. https://www.nhtsa.gov/report-a-safety-problem
Fortunately, I have a zero deductible with Progressive, so they are going to fix.
Question - Opinions on using the Ford dealer who I assume normally doesn't do windows or Safelite who does? Lots of glued elements on this hatch window, defrost, wipers, washer, etc. Need one recall done on the Bronco (and five on our Lincoln Aviator).
