I got a check engine light warning and took my BS to dealer. It's Diagnostic code P0496 which is this Vapor Canister Purge Valve. Dealer says it's out of warranty per their system. My research (both Gemini and chat GPT and a reading of the warranty documents) says in my situation it's covered. My car is registered in MD (which is part of California Emission regs) and is 2.5 years old, 41k miles. The standard warranty is 3 yrs / 36k miles but upgraded CA warranty is 3 yrs/50k miles.
The service advisor and warranty person at the dealer see what I am seeing that I should be covered but their Ford system wont let them change the denial... So I now need to call Ford customer service ...
Anyone else run into this issue. My research says this is a fairly common issue
