I bought a brand new 2021 Ford Bronco Sport at the end of 2020 and I was so excited for my new vehicle. The car seemed to work well and overall I was happy with my purchase. About a year or so into me buying the car, the vehicle started experiencing issues and from there my experience with Ford took a plunge.
The engine in my Bronco started experiencing a shudder and it sometimes felt like the engine was struggling to keep up. Specifically, I noticed the shudder more while driving at lower speeds (40 mph and below). At times, the rpm spikes to 3,000 rpm’s while breaking before the car comes to a stop, the engine then shudders. Other times, while changing lower speeds, the engine would also jump before it shifts into the next gear. I have taken my car in twice to the dealership and I was also told that this is a characteristic of the vehicle. I have had other Ford’s before that had a similar engine and it did not have that characteristic. Also, if it is a characteristic as they described, then in theory the shuddering should occur every time I break which it doesn’t, it is sporadic and therefore not a characteristic. The guy at the dealership who test drove my car said he could see what I was describing but when it came time for the car to be taken in to the mechanic he said the characteristic was normal for the engine. This absolutely does not feel normal!
Since that visit, I have taken it in for another test drive with the manager and main shop foreman, what a waste of time. I even posted in this forum describing my issue and was given a case number which did absolutely nothing! From there I asked to have my car looked at again for the issue but I told them I needed a loaner. A loaner that is covered by my extended warranty! Well I’ve been on the “loaner list” for several weeks and my car has yet to be looked at and I am supposedly “next” in line. They initially told me it would be 2-3 weeks, but it’s been way past that and 2 weeks since someone reached out to provide an update. I knew they wouldn’t resolve my issue unless I had proof so I was able to record the issue while I drove. I told them this when I took my car in for an oil change, but it went ignored. What they didn’t ignore was how much my car’s resale value is and since then they’ve been hounding me to sell my car to them.
I will not be purchasing another buy Ford again.
