This is a GROK report that lists issues with Sync 4 and the weather app. It is pretty long. If folks are having issues I thought you might want to copy it to your device to review and use. I have tried all of these and didn't get any changes. Still only works about 5% of the time. I'm going to try and get a different Ford help number to see if I can get them to replace the modem. More to follow.

Yes, there are multiple reports of Sync 4 weather app/feature issues on 6th-generation (2021+) Ford Broncos. These typically involve the built-in weather display (often AccuWeather-powered) in navigation mode, showing “network not available,” a crossed-out cloud icon, “no weather data available,” intermittent failures, or complete unavailability.
The weather feature relies on the vehicle’s built-in cellular modem (usually AT&T LTE), an active Connected Built-in Navigation / Ford Connectivity subscription (commonly a 3-year trial from new), GPS/location services, and proper vehicle connectivity settings. It is independent of your phone’s data connection or CarPlay/Android Auto.
Common Causes Reported by Owners
  • Expired or inactive subscription — The free trial ends after ~3 years; weather (and some nav/traffic features) stop working without renewal.
  • Modem/connectivity problems — Flaky or failed vehicle modem is a recurring culprit. Symptoms can appear randomly (e.g., after stops), even with good phone signal. Some owners needed a dealer modem replacement.
  • Disabled connectivity settings in Sync.
  • Software/glitches after updates — Intermittent loss of GPS, weather, and network features. Soft resets often temporarily restore function. Ford has issued Sync 4 APIM software updates and SSMs addressing broader connectivity, GPS, and stability issues on 2021–2024 Broncos (and related models).
  • Poor cellular coverage in the vehicle’s modem network (not your phone’s).
  • Temporary glitches that clear after resets or reconnecting FordPass.
Weather can also work inconsistently during severe weather events for some users.
Official Ford Troubleshooting Steps
Follow these in order (from Ford’s Sync 4 navigation support guidance):
  1. Check subscription status
Log into your Ford Account at ford.com → Connected Services (Quick Links). Confirm Connected Built-in Navigation is Active. Renew if expired.
  2. Verify modem activation and vehicle settings
    On the Sync screen:
Settings → Connectivity → Connectivity Vehicle Features
Toggle On: Connected Navigation, Location Services, Vehicle Data, and Vehicle Connectivity.
  3. Confirm FordPass / Connected Services
In the FordPass (or Ford) app, ensure navigation/weather services are active under account/manage connected services. Reconnect the vehicle if needed.
  4. Perform resets
    • Soft reset (common temporary fix): Vehicle on and in Park. Press and hold the volume/power knob + seek-forward (fast-forward) button together for ~5–10 seconds until the screen goes black and reboots.
    • SYNC module reset / key cycle as described in Ford support.
    • Some owners also did a FordPass reset or full connected-services reset, then reconnected the app.
  5. Test other connected apps (e.g., AccuWeather if available, INRIX, traffic) to isolate whether it’s weather-specific or a broader connectivity issue.
If the above fails, contact Ford Customer Relationship Center (1-800-392-3673 or live chat) or visit a dealer. Ask them to check modem status, run diagnostics, and apply the latest APIM/Sync 4 software updates (via FDRS or OTA). Modem replacement has resolved persistent cases for some owners.
Additional Notes
  • Software updates have restored or improved the weather feature for some F-150/Sync 4 users (AccuWeather integration); similar updates apply or roll out to Broncos. Keep automatic updates enabled if possible.
  • Broader Sync 4 issues (reboots, CarPlay/Android Auto drops, GPS problems) are documented in Ford SSMs for 2021–2024 Broncos and are generally addressed by software rather than hardware replacement of the APIM in many cases.
  • Alternatives while troubleshooting: Use phone weather/radar apps via CarPlay or Android Auto (e.g., MyRadar or similar).
Owner forums (Bronco Nation, Bronco6G) contain multiple threads matching these symptoms, with soft resets and modem work frequently mentioned as solutions. If your trial has expired or you are in a weak modem-coverage area, that is the most straightforward explanation.
