Sasquatch Trim Rings Repair

I want to remove my damaged Sasquatch trim rings to have them repaired and powder-coated.

Are they just "beauty rings?" Do they need to be on my Bronco while I'm driving it? I wasn't sure if they were simply a trim piece or if they performed a critical function. I don't have a spare set of wheels, so I would like to leave the trim rings at the shop and continue to drive my Bronco around until they've been refinished.

Any information is welcome and appreciated. šŸ˜Ž

They provide no functional benefit other than acting as sacrificial metal for the rest of your wheel. They're just trim pieces.

Actually doesn't look terrible with them off either šŸ‘

Good to know. I suspected as much, but I wasn’t sure if they performed as bead grips in lieu of bead locks.

Appreciate the quick reply! šŸ¤“

Actually, when I removed my beauty rings the wheel wasn’t fully ā€œpaintedā€ underneath them - the finish was simply overspray from the wheel finish so leaving them off was not an option for me because the edges look like šŸ’©

@BuckYeah - If you don’t already know - Please use care when removing them as it is very easy to strip the Torx Plus bolt heads as there is a ton of thread locker on the bolts. Once removed, I suggest you clean and remove most of it before reinstalling.

I concur with the above statements, especially in regards to the bolts.

Yeah, I learned about the Torx screws being a mother to work with in Brian Miller’s YouTube video. Thanks for the heads up.

I’m not too worried about how bad the wheels look without the rings; it will only be for a short time (I hope!) šŸ¤“

Chris, any idea what your guy is charging to do all five? Thinking of having mine done also.

Hey, before I forget, I sent you a DM about the carrier you got. Could you check it out and let me know what you think?

I haven't chosen a shop yet. It's between a guy in Kirkland who specializes in wheel repair and a shop in Ballard/Freemont that does repair and powder coating. The second shop did a great job of applying a custom color paint job with a specific texture to my dune flag bracket. Neither option will be cheap, but as you may have noticed, I don't have a problem spending money on my car. LOL

I will definitely let you know, and post what I decide to do in this thread, as well as a follow-up to my original post.
