Don't Follow Me ,I'm about to do something Stupid

I remember seeing a thread about using an oil extractor but did not see anything with the search results. I've used this oil extractor from Harbor Freight since 2007 with great results. Everything from lawn mowers , motorcycles, a couple Mercedes SUVs , Ford F-150 & Ranger, my tractor , and now my Ford Bronco with the 2.7 EcoBoost. As long as you select the proper diameter & length tube to reach the bottom of the oil pan it gets almost every drop out. Making a custom length tube to fit down the dip stick hole is very easy as they are just normal compression fittings . Shop around because these are sold under various brand names and they just change the color of the tank. I've found them from $92-$379 ! I believe I paid $129 for this one when they 1st came out . I have also tried a couple different ones that are made out of plastic but you have to be very careful not to use them until the oil has cooled or the plastic warps and destroys itself. This one I use as soon as I get back home from a short trip uptown.

When the Bronco was delivered it showed oil just slightly above the top hole on the dipstick so that's what I fill it to also. The couple times I had the Ford dealership perform the service it showed the same. Roughly 6.2 qts in and that's also what I get out when using the vacuum extractor.

This short clip is simply to show what comes out of the pan after extraction.

Looking for a solution to a problem that doesn’t exist? My 2.7 Bronco is the easiest oil change of my fleet, especially with this valve.

Yeah, I have a valve very similar to that one. It does make it much less of a mess. The only reason I would consider an oil extractor is that I wouldn't have to remove all the skid plates to get access to the oil pan. Not a big deal but it certainly doesn't make it the easiest oil change I've ever done.

Yep I get that. And having the oil filter on the top on my 2.7 would save all the underneath work even though a visual inspection can be beneficial.
I guess for me many of my vehicles need to be raised and safely blocked as the filter is on the bottom. That’s probably the most annoying part. Love the clearance under my Sasquatch. That’s why it’s my easiest vehicle.
Buying an extractor is just another device I don’t need? Maybe for the transmission since Ford conveniently omitted a drain plug.

Yeah speed oil drain is the only way to go mated with a 1/2" hose if you don't want oil everywhere. The first time a changed my oil about a year ago I wasn't expecting it to all empty in matter of 10 seconds, my tank couldnt keep up and over flowed everywhere.
