Mysterious service charging system alert

Have any owners of 2022 Bronco Sport Big Bends had issues lately with an alert that says service charging system soon? I have seen it intermittently, but it goes away after driving for a few minutes. I figured that’s because the battery finally charged up.

The Ford dealer checked it out and didn’t find anything wrong with the battery or alternator. The battery had just been replaced under a recall with a more robust heavier-duty one.

I’ve read that one issue might be water coming in the shutters in the front that regulate airflow. It might affect an actuator that sends an alert signal. The alert first showed up after a heavy rain storm that I drove through.

Ford Motor Company, I replied to your comment yesterday, but I haven’t seen my reply in the thread. It might not have gone through. I haven’t yet figured out how this forum works, including comments and direct messages. I’m also curious about how communicating with Ford Motor Company is different from communicating with my Ford dealer. It seems to me there’s an overlap that could cause confusion. I would appreciate your clearing up any of this puzzlement.—David Vest
