Last year was turn-around time for me in my recent Ford ownerships. Over the last decade, I have had a 2006 Escape, a 2018 Escape, a 2018 Edge and now my 2023 Bronco Big Bend. All were satisfying SUV's. But the best were the 18 Edge 6cyl and the new 23 Bronco Big Bend. My Big Bend came in Cactus Grey which seems to be very easy to keep looking clean, even after it rains which is frequent here in NC. After 5600 miles I am getting a comstant 31.1 miles per gallon in regular mode. The power is surprising for a three cylinder though it is turbo. I have had opportunity to use normal, eco and sport. Normal is fine in all circumstances so far, eco..... slower responses, and sport a bit too responsive. Jack-rabbit driving in urban settings might be where that shines. The normal just seems so efforless and has the auto-stop turned on. Sport just seems too herky jerky for me in our small town rural environment. And while eco saves about a mile per gallon usually, it feels sluggish. Well that's the idea, it's supposed to follow that rhythm. Braking. Great.... no complaints whatsoever...... even with my small utility trailer in tow. But then again... who's going fast towing ? especially in a rural location. The AC and heat..... very good though a tad timely for heat in the winter 30's and 40's. However in about two miles it is up to speed. The shift dial takes a while to get used to, I suppose daily driving would make one proficient in a couple weeks and then it would feel automatic and natural. Honestly, I usually put on the seabelt, push the brake and push the start button, hit reverse on the dial, back up and then again hit the dial to D and off I go with not even a thought to 'mode'. Blissfully listening to the radio or my accessory CD player. I got the obligatory hood protector and window vents along with the HD rubber mats for the floor. Addiionally the rear bumper guard piece.
I changed to Mobil 1 oil at 4000 miles early and burn mostly regular octane Name Brand gas... Exon or Shell, both availale not far from my home. I did run a couple tanks of 93 octane premium through it and will continue about every 6-7 tanks appart. Considering regular is $2.95~9 and premion at about $3.45~9 or so. I have though of the addative 'Sea Foam' but I dont know if I even have the funnel provided under the rear mat.....? I just havent looked and suppose I should huh.. My seats are manual and my steering wheel is Not heated, two of my dissappoinments, though I have gotten used to both. Steering is good pleasant and easy, though the ride is coarse I guess you'd say. More so in SC. where I would suggest the roads are dirt painted gray lol.. and demonstrably rougher and noisier. NC is much smoother and quieter nearly everywhere. Noise...... the interior is protected from outside noise pretty well in my opinion. The amenities are sufficient in the front, with the leaner and cup holders, and while leaning the shift wheel and mode wheel feel very easy and not awkward. I have seldom had the use of the split door window arrangment of the rear hach, usually only the main hatch while grocery shopping. The window, not so much, but then I walk with crutches and there-in the awkwardness of using the window starts.
Tire size and quietness for me is fine and next oil change I will rotate them but front tire turning round-edging is near Zero.Inpercievable with 5.6K miles. You would have to look closely. But its all due to my driving style and abundance of straight highways that I travel primarily. Dials and switches.... all easy and intuative as far as I can see. I'v refilled the washer fluid once now, they usually do that with dealer oil change. Really nothing more to report, the Bronco Sport is pretty well tought out and when using it, I recognise and catch myself liking it. I have Not been offroad, however watching the reviews and videos on Youtube, it appears were I to try offroad It would carry me well for any needs I might think nessessary.
In case you were wondering.... the Service mannager..... my Daughter
