I always tear something up.

Well. I dunno why I keep doing things myself. I always break something.

Yeah I do. Cause it’s fulfilling. I can say I did it. Even if I have to replace something else unrelated cause I screwed it up.

So I decided to do some clearance work. I removed the front portion of the front crash bar slot and all of the rear crash bar slot. (Sasquatch so no bars were actually included).

Front went well. I trimmed it up with my cut off wheel and cleaned/smoothed it with a flapper wheel and hit it with some primer. (Will paint it black after primer dries).

The rear, well. I used my reciprocating saw and a long blade. Didn’t notice the brake lines up behind there. Kinda got into one of them and knicked it up a little. Luckily I noticed and it didn’t cut through it. But it’s still too close for comfort. Good thing is that’s a really short piece right there that connects below the MC and under the driver door with another joint. So just that short piece is all I’ll have to replace. I could probably slap some RTV on the gash and never have a problem but, brakes aren’t something you Jerry rig.

I know what yall are thinking. You idiot. Trust me I thought it too. Was pretty mad at myself. But, mistakes happen and you learn from them and don’t make them a second time. Hopefully.

So, if you decide to cut off your crash bar slots BE VERY CAREFUL cutting the rear and don’t let your blade go behind that plastic support deal just above it.

Oh, I also smashed a finger putting my tire back on. Don’t ask…..

At least you are out there trying. I did something kinda like this. Worked on my F250 added new tires and wheels and forgot to clip the brake line back into the holder. It rubbed on the tire until one day my son called me and said the brakes went out on the truck. It happened right as he was pulling into work luckily the drive is up hill. Had to pinch it off with a vice grip to limp it home.

A guy goes to his mentor and asks. How did you get to be so successful.
His mentor responded, good judgement.
How did you learn good judgement?
His mentor responded, from poor judgment.

So your on your way to be a bronco expert.

I find it's so much more fun to break and replace something yourself than to take it to someone who knows what they are doing to begin with. Besides, I can always find an excuse to buy another tool that way!

I locked up the brakes this morning when someone stopped short in front of me. The ABS kicked in but I still managed to bark those 37’s on the smooth asphalt.

So I guess my line is holding.
