From what I have read it has a modest bump in performance and some shift quality improvements. Some other nice features like speedometer calibrations along with gear ratio adjustment accommodation when hardware is changed and eliminates the need to deactivate the automatic shutdown every time you start your Bronco. The Procal tool can also read and reset vehicle error codes. That’s nice.
It’s going to cost around $27 per hp. Probably a fairly safe tune considering it’s from Ford. Premium fuel is required for life when running this tune. Effects on your warranty coverage may come into play. It certainly isn’t going to make your drivetrain last as long especially if you’re on it hard.
Personally if I was to buy the tune I would load it myself as my Bronco has been in service for over two years and there’s little value to pay Ford or another’s service department any money at this point.
Worth it? Maybe 🤔

Thanks I appreciate your response I wasn't aware of disabling the golf cart feature that's almost worth it there aside from just pulling the brown wire and I would do it myself thanks again

Look at the link. We installed it last year. Shift improvements and added power. Ford will honor warranty if you have an ASME mechanic install. I like it with the added things like autostart stop disconnect and seat belt alarm off. especially on light trails so i dont continue to latch seatbelt. You do not have to run premium. The bronco is smart enough to adjust just as it does without the procal. overall were happy. read the article and reach out if you have any questions.

I added a borla high clearance exhaust. which i like. its quiet unless you step on it and not too loud.

Personally I do not feel any change in shift points... what I do feel is a slightly longer torque curve that matches the transmission considerably better. The 2.7TT is quite "peaky" the Torque and HP curves have a very high top but the top of the curve is not very long.... In stock form you "feel" this "peakyness". The tune actually lengthens the top of this curve just enough to match well with the shift points. Power delivery is now slightly stronger but considerably more consistent and even.

I wanted to keep my warranty... I doubt you you would be denied if you did it yourself but I ordered through my dealer... so I paid the list $825... but they threw in the install for free. I set it all up. My computer with the software downloaded to it and they pushed the button... Easy peasy....

I am VERY happy with the results.

I don’t think a lot of people read the terms of
Ford’s warranty. You DO need to run premium and their warranty only covers damage caused by the tune for 3 years and 36k miles from vehicle in service date.

Personally I did... and I have no problems with it... My main concern with warranty is with electronics, modules etc. It is a rather mild tune and I think the truck benefitted greatly with it. I would be rather concerned with a higher horsepower tune... those very much place considerable added stress on the mechanical internals. This one... not so much. I am not a racer boy so really my biggest benefit is the consistent pull as opposed to the real peaky stock tune. Which I believe is actually harder on the gears, (trans, transfer case, differential, etc... ) A slightly higher torque but consistently applied I think is easier on those. It is the "jolting" application of torque that I believe is harder on those even though it might be a slightly less peak.

But that is just an opinion.....

I tend to agree with your comments. If you’re on it hard you can certainly expect more trouble. That stands to reason. All I am saying is people should understand there is some inherent risk that even this mild tune can have negative effects on their warranty as well as their Bronco’s drivetrain longevity.
Just “ READ” the warranty and decide for yourself if it’s worth the risk. The folks with an extended warranty could lose the most potential coverage.

I’m also not going to speculate as to what Ford will or won’t do when something bad does happen.

And for those who have purchased the Ford extended warranty and are considering this tune, I would look at how it might effect that warranty.

Borla exhaust cat back is 140902. sorry late in responding.
It is quiet no drone unless you get on it hard. At highway and normal driving just a light rumble. much lighter and tucks up high and tight.

You do not have to run premium. Ford is smart enough to adjust. You will not get all
benefit unless you run premium. Each to his own. It works good in my opinion.

My '15 Ford Taurus was tuned (Gearhead auto octane tune) with 17,000 miles on it. Now has 107,000 with zero engine issues. Religious oil changes using full synthetic every 5,000 miles, ALWAYS used Shell, Mobil, or BP premium, and only two trips to the Dragstrip. The auto octane will retard the timing and fuel if I ever cannot get premium, but I always could get premium. Reliable 13 second flat work car that gets 22 miles per gallon. My Bronco will get a similiar tune next year.
