Hey all, anyone know of a good rain cover to through over top when I have my tops off and it will support the weight of the rain? I live in Oregon and it is very hit and miss weather wise. Thanks.

I'm close to designing one. I want to find the intersection of minimalistic yet 100% waterproof and easy quick installation and storage. I think I've nailed that with my bimini and have proven the waterproofness with my 52-mile drive in the rain video. I'll try to find this thread when I design a full cover, but for now I'm swamped with bimini production for all that continue to order it.

I also wanted to make a cargo cover, but there are too many decent one's out there and a great cost. So couldnt compete, and also didnt want to make something "excellent" when there were already "great" options out there.

I just picked up my emergency cover. Broncover. Based on all the reviews on 6G and other research it seems to be the best one out there...but it aint cheap.

I agree the broncover is the best out there so far. Our idea was to make something where you could open the doors and access the bronco. We want to make something that you put on when you go out camping, but still have the option to get into your vehicle and access your things.

I'd be the first in line to order the cargo cover if you make it !

Just curious which ones on the market do you like or think are great ? I've looked at them and I think they are all OK at best.

I run this one $69 and I think it works great. It is also the one shown in my video: 52-miles-in-rain

Thanks Dan. I've seen most of these that attach via tape eventually come loose. Think Mabett has one that screws in now that I thought would be better.

Guess I wasn't thinking clear this morning but what I would really like you to make is a Tonneau Cover for the rear area !

Photos from January 2023 when we started to design then concentrated more on the bimini's.
Below is what I mean when I said full access to your doors, and getting in and out of your bronco.
BroncoCover has a great product, maybe they just need to make another version for a quick-rain-fly vs the "storage-rain-fly" that they produce.

The quick-rain-fly would be less expensive to produce as less material, be smaller and easier to store and honestly probably sell much more.

But maybe we'll just produce it.

Dan

I agree access to the vehicle would be nice !

I was thinking more of something like this for just the rear cargo area, can't stand the straps and such.

Any thoughts on making a tonneau cover or speedster-like cover (similar to the older Saleen Mustangs) that covers the whole back seat area to secure and cover everything when the top is off?

You are on the right track by wanting to design something "quick-rain-fly" style of cover. However, if you have the doors off, the model you envision would no longer work. If you could create something very light, yet waterproof, and that fits like the Ford offered version, you would have a great selling product, and one that I would certainly buy.

Bought this from Ford with points last summer…. What I like is it’s REALLY LIGHT and easy to handle and store…. Not advertised as a rain cover but keeps light rain and dust at bay, and slows down anyone wanting to look around inside when I’m not around…

wow, those straps are horrific!

Yeah - alot of people on 6g have replaced them with suction cups that have threaded stud on the outer side to put thru the tonneau and secure it that way. I was not a fan of the straps - first approach to the suction cups was hot glue under the flap...didn't last more than a week or 2 in this heatwave...the new cups seem to be working. I got nylon acorn bolts to finish them off nicer but they are under the strap hooks (minus the straps)
