Hey there

I just installed the baffled oil cath can system, and I want to tell you about my experience. really much of the installation is easy and quick, the only step that takes a little time is to remove the ccv hose(it is not supposed to be removed) and the only way to remove it is by breaking the hose connector, but with a a little patience (which is not really my strong) could be done, it took me about 1 and 1/2hour and I think it was 1 hour figuring out how to remove the hose without breaking anything
But now the Cookie Monster Can breathe cleaner air LOL
Stay safe everybody ✌

Please post a pic of the contents of the can in 30 days. I bet it’s pretty clean…

The 2.7l has indirect injection. Why do you think you need a catch can?

The spec sheets do state that the 2.7 has both Port and Direct fuel injection. The 2.3 is only Direct injection

I installed a catch can/oil separator as well (this one)... as the 2.7L is both port and direct injected, from reading and watching videos my understanding is that it can't hurt, but it CAN help. Might only have to be emptied once a year or something, if that, but if it helps then why not. Plenty of F150's with this same engine seem to indicate it will likely catch something.

I also got sucked into thinking it couldn’t hurt. I installed the Mishimoto single can model. After 900 miles I checked it and it was bone dry.
At that rate I would never have to empty it. $200 for nothing. I removed it today.

Good to hear you have come up dry this far! Mine was a bit less pricey, but since I only have 750 miles right now, I’ll give it a year maybe. It’s not hurting anything and I paid for it. If in a year we are bone dry, I’ll swap it back to oem and sell the J&L to an f150 owner. 😅

Update:
At 5000 miles, I unscrewed the catch can and found what amounts to probably 1-2 tablespoons of oil. To me this is quite a bit, which was prevented from blowing back into my engine. Extrapolate this over 50k miles, and that would be maybe 1-2 cups of oil. Not a ton, but quite a bit considering it's oil going where it shouldn't.

I'd say at this point that it was worth it... wonder if the bronco-specific one would be catching more than the F150 one. I know they're generally the same, but hoses are shorter. Also wonder if a fancier brand with filters, etc., would be catching more.

Thanks for the update. That liquid looks pretty clear, like water (from condensation).
Can you confirm what’s in there?

Okay... mine looks like regular motor oil... yours looks concerningly 'frothy' (milky). 😕
