Wondering if anyone has installed Amp Research Extreme Powersteps (4 motor) on their Bronco.
Apparently, the Driver's side front motor mount is incorrect and the board strikes it upon retracting, and cannot go to full retract.
Incorrect driver's front motor mount shipped with full install kit.
I'm told that the correct part will take 2-4 weeks to be sent to me, but I'm lucky as it usually takes up to 8 weeks.
Expensive vehicle with an expensive add-on which now looks stupid driving around with the steps down and disabled until the part arrives.
Kind of a letdown after spending all that money to dress up expensive Bronco, and I'm stuck waiting.........
Not my idea of customer service for a high end consumer product.
There are some other minor issues which I was able to deal with, but this shouldn't happen with this level of "kit" IMHO.

Anybody install one of these?
Did you experience same, or was yours "correct"?

That sucks. I installed the Rough Country e-Boards on my HLE and they fit perfectly. In fact, their motors can be removed & clocked differently to accommodate various vehicle applications.

Can the Amp motor be moved (rotated on its mount) at all to accommodate its protrusion into the rail?

Best to You Bchurr,

No, the motormount is the problem. Not the motor.

The assembly is 4 "components": (1) The (1) linkage arms which connect to the step board- which has (2) a motor mount bolted to it, the (3) gearbox-which has the motor (4) bolted to it.
The linkage arms come assembled to the motor mount, and the gearbox comes assembled to the motor.
See photo attached seen from ground looking up: the "motormount" attached to the driver's front linkage arms protrudes beyond the vehicle pinch weld.
The motor mount is not symmetrical, because of the gearbox attached to the motor. One side is further from the gear than the other side.
If the motormount to linkage arm bolt pattern was symmetrical, I could simply unbolt it and reverse it- supposing the gear doesn't need pulled to clear removal.

So the problem is that they installed the wrong motormount on the driver's front linkage.
See photoshopped photo of motor mount/front linkage arms.

I'm very glad you are happy with your Rough Country Powersteps.
My friend just installed them on his Jeep Wrangler, and loves them.

My reason for going the Amp (Extreme has 4 motors) setup is that there are no wires or magnets needed at the doors to control the board deploying. The Amp units connect to the OBD2 port and operate off the vehicle computer.
I liked that feature. It is "cleaner" to my way of thinking.

But I got caught up in one of those miserable mistake situations that life has at times, unfortunately RealTruck bought Amp Research-and is in the process of moving the plant to Mexico.
Which doesn't help........

The Amp Extreme Powersteps appear to be very well and substantively constructed, but the lights do not impress me too much. Kinda cheaply made for the level of this "kit/assembly".
It will probably serve well- whenever I get the right part so that I can put it in service/use them.

I'm praying that they get the part to me before 4 weeks.
I view this as kind of unfair and unnecessary for the following reasons:
1) With computers, if a correct replacement exists anywhere in the world-Amp Research should be able to locate it and expedite it to me.
2) I know this is forgotten now, but....... I'm the CUSTOMER!
I should be treated with urgency that this mistake on Amp Research/RealTruck 's part has caused me.

But my opinion only counts at home..........sometimes. :)

Thanks and all my Best,
Scott

Hopefully they get your issue resolved quickly and resolutely.

FYI - I considered the Amp steps as their reputation was impeccable however, their OBD port connection is what turned me off. BTW - the RC e-Boards have 4 motors as well.
