Hope this doesn't violate any forum rules - I just wanted to share my honest experience as an early reservation holder who's put serious miles on my 2021 Bronco. This comes from a place of wanting Ford to succeed, not complaining for the sake of it.

An Open Letter to Ford Motor Company: A 2021 Bronco Early Reservation Holder's Experience

Background
As one of the early Ford Bronco reservation holders who waited patiently through production delays and supply chain issues, I write this with both passion for the Bronco concept and genuine concern for Ford's execution. After 70,000+ miles of real-world driving, I feel compelled to share my honest experience.

My Ford Experience: I came to Ford from primarily European vehicles, with my first American vehicle being a 2017 F-250 Super Duty - the most reliable truck I've ever owned. Based on that exceptional experience, I was excited to replace it with the Bronco when my reservation was fulfilled. The contrast between these two Ford vehicles is stark and disappointing - Ford clearly demonstrated they could build exceptional quality with my F-250, making the Bronco's issues even more frustrating.

What I Love About My Bronco
- The Vision: Ford brought back an icon, and I respect that bold decision
- Capability: When it works, it's an impressive vehicle
- Community: I've helped friends and colleagues purchase Broncos because I believed in the product
- Ford Loyalty: My exceptional F-250 experience convinced me Ford was the right choice, leading to my Bronco reservation

Critical Issues That Need Addressing

1. Wireless Android Auto Reliability Crisis
- Problem: Constant disconnections while driving, creating a safety hazard
- Safety Concern: System blocks reconnection while driving, leaving drivers without navigation mid-trip
- Timeline: This issue has persisted since delivery in 2021 with no effective solution
- Impact: Forces unsafe behavior (pulling over to reconnect) or defeats the purpose of wireless connectivity

2. Mixed Quality Experience
- Electronics: Had to replace the entire head unit due to Bluetooth and GPS malfunctions
- Durability Positives: Original windshield has survived 70,000+ miles (while neighbors have had multiple replacements), and original tires performed well for 50,000 miles with proper maintenance
- Maintenance Rewards: When properly cared for, the Bronco shows its potential for durability

3.Recall Management Concerns
- Multiple Safety Recalls: Suspension recalls, rear-facing camera recalls, and engine valve drop issues
- No Immediate Solutions: Issuing recalls without having parts or fixes readily available
- Customer Limbo: Owners told their vehicles are unsafe but given no timeline for resolution
- Trust Erosion: How can customers feel confident when serious safety issues are acknowledged but not promptly addressed?

4. Early Adopter Treatment & Broken Promises
- Hardtop Delays: Despite being an early reservation holder wanting a hardtop, experienced significant delays
- Moving Goalposts: Later model years (late 2022/early 2023) could purchase hardtops with soft tops, while early adopters were left waiting
- Hardtop Ready Kit Pricing: When finally offered, the pricing was prohibitively expensive, effectively punishing loyal early customers
- Broken Promises: Early supporters were led to believe hardtop options would be readily available, then faced delays and excessive costs

5. Dealer Network Quality Control
- Installation Damage: During factory accessory installation (tailgate table), dealership caused visible damage and denied responsibility
- Paint Defects: Manufacturing paint issues combined with poor dealer service experience
- Changing Ownership: Dealer buyouts have disrupted established customer relationships and service standards

The Bigger Picture

Value Proposition Concern
For a $49,000+ investment, the combination of reliability issues and unresolved safety recalls undermines confidence in Ford's commitment to quality. When basic connectivity features fail consistently AND safety recalls remain without solutions, it raises serious questions about the entire development and support process.

Brand Trust Impact
My F-250 Super Duty was so exceptional that it convinced me to sell it and trust Ford with my Bronco reservation. The quality difference between these experiences is jarring. I know Ford can build incredible vehicles because they did it with my truck - why isn't that same standard applied to the Bronco program? This inconsistency makes it difficult to confidently recommend Ford, despite my positive truck experience.

Competitive Reality
While I prefer the Bronco over Jeep Wrangler conceptually, execution issues are pushing loyal customers toward competitors who deliver more reliable experiences.

What Ford Can Do

1. Immediate Software Fix: Prioritize resolving wireless Android Auto connectivity issues
2. Recall Resolution: Don't issue recalls without having solutions and parts readily available
3. Enhanced Quality Assurance: Implement stricter testing protocols before vehicles reach customers
4.Early Adopter Recognition: Provide extended warranties or preferential service for reservation holders who waited through delays
5.Transparent Communication: Regular updates on known issues and resolution timelines

My Request to Ford Leadership

I'm not asking for special treatment—I'm asking for the reliability and quality that the Bronco's price point promises. As someone who has put 70,000 miles on my Bronco and wants to keep it longer, I need confidence that Ford stands behind its products.

To Ford's Engineers and Management: Please remember that your early reservation holders were your biggest believers. We put our faith (and deposits) in you before seeing the final product. That loyalty deserves to be met with products that work as advertised.

Moving Forward

I remain hopeful that Ford will address these concerns. The Bronco has tremendous potential, and I want to be proud of my choice to support Ford's vision. But that pride needs to be backed by reliable performance and responsive customer service.

Ford's slogan promises "Built Ford Tough." I'm asking that this toughness extend beyond the frame to include the reliability of every system, especially those we interact with daily.

Perhaps I just happened to order the correct options, but I've had none of the issues you define in your post. I am also an early reservation 2021 Bronco owner. Having said that, I wish you luck with the issues you've encountered.

Lost me claiming 2017 F-250 was a gem.

The 2017 Ford F-250 is widely considered to be the vehicle’s worst year.
The year 2017 was easily one of Ford’s worst model years with the highest number of NHTSA complaints. Over 1,200 filings indicate the 2017 F-250 was a year to avoid.

I was also a very early reservation holder of a 2dr 2.7 Black Diamond Sasquatch, Mod bumper, tow package. I feel very fortunate for the opportunity to buy such a cool vehicle for under $47,000. I’d have to spend $78,000 today (Stroppe) to replicate and then I would have to repaint it!🫤
Oh, and zero issues, regrets or complaints.

One reason I never buy a new model vehicle. Great overall assessment and your right about the spending of $$$ for lack of quality and most of all no ready solutions. Have fun in the Wild.

That's a terrible idea, when do we start?

I'm a second day reservation holder. I didn't take delivery until Jan 2022 of my '22 Badlands Sasquatch with the LUX package. I only have about 14K miles on mine because, quick frankly, he's pretty much a dedicated off-roader. On the other hand, those are hard miles. I work from home, so very few of those miles are highway miles, expect when I go too places like Moab, etc. I have had zero issues/complaints about my Bronco, and I'm sorry that you have. However, if you think that Jeep Wranglers have not had issues over the few years, you are sadly mistaken. For example, if you follow Brad from TrailRecon and his engine issues you'll learn that his needed to replace his cam is common with that model of engine (the gen 3 3.6). Take a look here at 10:24 in the video for the details about what happened to his engine, and the fact that it would have taken a long time for him to get a new cam since it's on nationwide backorder. There are over 12K people on that list waiting for a new cam that can't drive their Jeep.

So, having said all that, I'm not suggesting that there haven't been issues with the Bronco. The current Hoss 2.0 shocks being the latest. BTW, I've already replaced those shocks with coil overs from Ride that have an external reservoir and the ability to adjust both low speed and high speed so I won't be running into that problem. But I've heard rumors that Ford will pay you some money if you have to replace those shocks yourself. Since there is no current replacement available for the recall. I wonder if @Ford Motor Company could confirm or deny that. Especially for those folks whose Hoss 2.0 reservoir has fallen off?

Good read.

The Android/CarPlay reliability thing has always perplexed me a bit. At a previous job we had a shared pool a vehicles (non-Ford) to drive back and forth to New York City—3 hrs drive with traffic, it was brutal.

There was 12 people on the crew, and one of the continual complaints I heard was how Android Auto and CarPlay would continually disconnect in these vehicles and how annoying it was. Meanwhile myself and two other folks on the crew literally never had a single issue whatsoever. It was always perfect for us.

Even today, my wife's phone will seemingly randomly disconnect. Only happens maybe once every month or two, so not a big issue, but it does happen. Meanwhile my phone has never disconnected and I've never had an issue. I don't get it.

2. Recall Resolution: Don't issue recalls without having solutions and parts readily available

I very much suspect this one is not a choice manufactures are given. Safety recalls are regulated by the NHTSA.

I was week 2 reservation holder. I just could not decide. I got in after 190k others so it was a wait for me. Got our MY22 Everglades in early November 2022. Got 49k on the clock and love it more today than when I bought it. I do have the spider cracks in my top near the back window. But I don’t really have the top on much anymore just gives me a reason to get a softy. As far as apple car play the Bronco likes my wife’s phone better than mine. It will connect to hers when she is still in the house and I am in the drivers seat. We have issues with it disconnecting from time to time but seems like it is always in an area that has a high powered Wi-Fi because it happens in the same location every time it does it.
This thing has taken us places we never thought we would go, we have seen things most people will never see.
Hope you get yours straightened out soon.

I'm sorry, but I don't see the relevance of being an early Reservationist and the issues you've written about. A quick answer to your question about if Ford is standing behind the Bronco, is it is obvious they are standing behind the Bronco, now in the 5th year of production, modifications to the original design and model/trim content changes and build quality improvements, over the 5-year build cycle. As an early purchaser, I reserved in September 2020 and took delivery in August 2022, knowing the Bronco was still under final development and low-rate initial production started during the worldwide COVID pandemic, I expected things not to go perfectly. They didn't, but I wanted the Bronco and took a chance with it. My early 2022 build has mostly been flawless, with a few minor issues that Ford via my local dealership has resolved.

If you want a "more reliable" Bronco with two tops, I suggest just buy a 2025.

Thanks for sharing your experience -- one note: I've had my nav freeze once or twice due to my Android, and instead of pulling over, you can do a hard reset on the road really easily. Just hold the power and fast forward buttons at the same time until the screen goes black. It takes seconds, and you don't have to take your eyes off the road longer than you would to locate the climate control button and manipulate it.

I've had two early 2021 builds, and both have been flawless. I do drive with my phone connected most of the time because I usually need a charge, so I'm more immune to any Android Auto issues, but I can see how disconnecting would be annoying.
