I have a 2023 Bronco Sport Outer Banks that has the 1.5lt 3 cylinder engine with the plastic oil pan. I called the dealer for the part number for the drain plug and what I was given belongs to a steel bolt but I'm sure it is a plastic drain plug, not a bolt. Anyone know the part number for the plastic drain plug for this application.

I am so confused right now.

I just did an oil change on a 2023 Bronco Sport Big Bend (1.5L 3-cyl) two weeks ago, and it was definitely a metal bolt on the oil pan. My wife's 2020 Ford Escape also has the 1.5L 3-cyl and it also is a metal bolt.

Can you send me your VIN number? (You can direct message me it if you want.) I'm wondering if Ford changed the oil pan design halfway through the model year, so going to investigate in the internal parts system.

Okay I figured it out with the help of some people.

In mid-2022, Ford switched the 1.5L EcoBoost from a metal oil pan to a plastic oil pan. They then forgot to update the parts system... so if you look it up internally today it is listed to have a metal oil pan with metal plug. This is why your dealership ordered the wrong part... because the parts system is wrong.

The new pan is plastic and uses the same oil plug as what's in the 2.7L, 3.0L, etc.
