BS Badlands High Pitch Squeak(?) - Help

I've had my BS Badlands for almost 3 months now, ~1,300 miles on it, and after a week of use I noticed a high pitch coming from below the engine bay. It can be appreciated more on cold starts, but it's also present when the vehicle has been running for a while; when driving, I can notice it if I have the window down and I'm passing next to a wall or another vehicle. For the Badlands or Edge owners in this forum, have any of you heard something similar?

I have taken it to 3 dealers now in the Miami area, the first one "couldn't replicate the noise", the second and third told me it's normal engine behavior/sound, which is total bs as coincidentally one of them had a Badlands for sale and when I kindly requested a sales rep if he could turn on the engine for and I couldn't hear the noise come from their Badlands. Each dealer took it's sweet time to "check" my vehicle, weeks even, and I have paid close to $1,000 on vehicle rentals because they say they won't cover rentals unless a warranty service is done on the vehicle, so of course I've had to pay for rentals while the car was sitting in parking lots, just to get it back along a "We have deemed it normal engine operation", even though I can now say for sure it isn't.

Not sure what to do besides contacting Ford after I pickup my vehicle from the last dealer, but I have a feeling Ford won't be bothered at all since I have been told twice it's "not an issue".

Thank you all for your time.

I have listened a couple of times and just don’t hear it. But I don’t have any baseline to compare it to. Maybe rev the engine and see how it changes?

Hello, it can be heard well at 0:05, 0:17 and 0:32.

I call it a squeak, but it isn't really a squeak lol. Not sure how else to describe it but it is a sharp noise that lasts less than a second.

Thanks!

I think it may take a younger pair of ears. My old ears don’t hear it, sorry. Please keep us posted on any updates.

No worries! I appreciate you taking time to watch the video. Hopefully somebody else can hear it, otherwise I think I might be going crazy haha

Definitely hear the intermittent squeaking. Sort of reminds me of belt/pulley squeaking. Even though I doubt that would be the case you never know.

Now that you mention it, it does sound a lot like that. I will kindly ask my latest service advisor to talk to the tech so they can take a look around the engine bay. Never tough it would take this much time and money to have something checked, specially for a brand new car. I would understand if it was hard to replicate, but the car does it pretty regularly. Feels like they just don't want to deal with this at all.

I will update the thread if there are any news, I hope nobody else is going through this and if they happen to be, I hope this post can help.

Just out of curiosity, is that the 2.3 or the 2.7…. to me it sounds like the 2.3L.
I do hear the high pitched screech that lasts for about a second.
Make sure you don’t have anything running like the Air conditioning, because sometimes they make a noise when the compressor kicks on do to the clutch type mechanism in them.
Then see if it still makes the noise.
The good news is that you will still be covered for a while, and see what happens over several more months.

I heard it, 3 times. Almost a chirp sound, a fraction of a second in duration. I’m a little surprised you even noticed it. I doubt it’s a normal engine sound. There is probably a faulty pulley bearing somewhere. Can’t imagine how a Tech will isolate and identify the source.

I guess that makes sense with the chirp sound, faulty pulley bearing. @Siegebreak first noticed it when he was next to a building.
I can see how that could happen, when I’m at a fast food place, it is the only time I can hear the turbo spool up a little echoing from the wall, otherwise I never hear it!

My 2.3l 7MT Badlands makes the same squeak noise, on 100% of cold starts and maybe 20% or otherwise. It goes away after less than a minute. Heading into the dealer for warranty work soon and they’re going to check it out, because of course it didn’t do it when I was there last time and mentioned it, as it wasn’t a cold start.

Try running with the air conditioning off it could be the a/c clutch cycling. Also the defroster runs the a/c make sure that’s off too. Good luck

Lemon law

I just went through this not too long ago, the Lemon Law will only work if you have a problem 3 times for the same problem after you have taken it in to get fixed.
I took my vehicle in 6 times for the same problem but we already started the law suit after the third time, and yes it worked.
I got back everything that I put into it including insurance, license plate, accessories, and more….. it was like I never bought it.

No!
Not the Bronco!
It was a 2022 Jeep Willys that had a fuel leak, and they couldn’t figure out where it was coming from.
When it first started, it was just a smell in the cabin, and by the time they were done claiming they “fixed it,” It was actually leaking all over the ground.
That’s when I took a look, and I discovered where it was coming from, and then pointed it out to the service center and that’s when they finally fixed it, after I believe six or seven times of taking it in.
This was over a period of five months and I didn’t have the vehicle for 2 1/2 months due to part shortages.
