Break in oil change?

So maybe I am thinking like an old person or something... but is there no reason to change the oil prematurely in a modern vehicle? I have almost 700 miles on my Badlands and was going to take it in for a quick oil change thinking it was necessary but there is no mention in the owners manual. My car says the oil is 96% good and I am keeping my driving enthusiasm at a conservative level. Maybe they do extensive break-in during the factory testing? Any insight appreciated.1612700433923.png

I would go off of what your owners manual says, especially for a vehicle under warranty. When I’ve bought new cars that didn’t state anything for break in I just did first oil change at 2k miles since it only costs me $20 for peace of mind.

I'm with you. I've always did my first oil change between 500 and 1000 miles. I just feel if there are any contaminants left in the engine at build, then it will get them out of there sooner rather than later. I know this is probably old fashion but it can't hurt anything. I don't know if the Bronco comes with regular, blended or pure synthetic oil but I usually go with pure synthetic on my 1st oil change. The turbos produce a lot of heat so I want to make sure its got good oil in it.

I use an oil analyzer to determine when it needs to be changed. This country wastes a lot of oil with the 3000 mile change idea.

Recently watched a Modern Marvels episode on oil.
It does get recycled now when it can.
Pretty amazing how many products are made with it!!!

This is worth a read in manual.
Goes on to give intervals of oil change based on usage of vehicle.
Looked like 10,000 miles is max at top of chart.
The more i find out about these

Thanks! Appreciate it.
I had a Explorer Sport with the 3.5TT and always had it replaced with full synthetic so I had no idea what oil came from the factory.

The oil life is expected to run down to 0% after around 10k miles of normal driving, but if you look on the Ford website, they recommend changing oil every 7500 miles or every 6 months, which ever comes first. Just did my first service yesterday (oil, filter, tire rotation, fluid check, etc.) at this interval. You can redeem your FordPass points to cover the cost, it would’ve been about $50 out of pocket otherwise.
