Love my Bronco!

Jan 12, 2024

For the first time since owning my Bronco, we are finally getting a real snowstorm here in Omaha.

Everything is cancelled, the neighborhoods are a mess, and there is a 3 foot snow drift in my driveway.

Had to run an errand, and it was the time of my life. I have never enjoyed driving is snow as much as today. Put the bronco in 4 high and let it eat snow. I’m sad that it was a short errand close by. I want to go again and rip-up some snow banks!

I'm hoping to partner up with @SlashRacer tomorrow afternoon to go bust a few drifts up in Michigan. They are supposed to be getting close to 12" but we will see.😁

Errands are your secret weapon in a storm Owner since Dec ‘21. Work part time in Colorado mountains and 6G is magic. Just went through your storm in Nebraska. It stalked me 3 times. Lol
A full plains blizzard.
Bronco loves it.

Here are some Bronco life tips.
Have you checked to see if you have enough wiper fluid? What about the neighbors? Relatives Need milk? Butter?
Do you have kids? If not, do your neighbors? Somebody needs an errand run.
Limit travel to only one errand per trip.
This is what we do.
Run.Every.Errand!
Welcome to the 6Glife!
Enjoy!

Agree - Bronco's good in snow! We should read Laura's excellent Bronco winter driving article every December/January. Also, this storm has a lot of wind, and I appreciate Bronco's great windshield wiper coverage. However, nothing moves in whiteout conditions, and blowing snow can very quickly completely remove drivers' visibility - I hate it when that happens!!

Cheers

Regardless of what type of vehicle you drive in the snow, when you are actually out and driving in it, remember this smart reminder from a local TV station...

When other cars or people are around yes but unfortunately not the advice I follow when I do not have other cars around.... I drive like a 16 year old that was just handed the keys to a 1000 hp super car.

Unfortunately no place to play in the snow here as all FS roads are now groomed snowmobile trails. Have fun in the snow I love how it gets around in the fresh stuff!

We got a dusting of pretty dry snow here in the Ft Worth area. I used the leaf blower to clear the driveway and sidewalks.
At least we didn't get 5 inches of ice like normal, lol.

And calling this fact out because it makes it better: Dan Schaffer wrote the article (I just posted it), and he is a former Ford engineer who did some work on the Bronco.

Hey @Laura, I know, can't be a good thing if I'm posting right? Anyways, if you ever talk/see this Dan Schaffer guy who you say wrote a very good article about driving in snow, and did work on the Bronco as an engineer....... Can you ask him why the HELL did Ford NOT put heating elements in the headlights? The front end is vertical, the snow sticks to those things quite easily, causing you to have to stop every few minutes just to clear them. Granted NJ hasn't had snow in 2 years, but last time we did, I remember what a PIA it was dealing with that.

Of course it doesn't matter much now as I have the Morimoto headlights (also not heated), so I can't bitch at Ford anymore. But what a stupid design!

I do the same. Snow is the best time to learn how your Bronco handles. I turn off all of the traction control aids, and go to it. It is an absolute blast learning how to bring that back end into line.

That's a great question. He did work on the 4x4 systems, I believe. I know it's something a lot of us deal with and would be curious as to why Ford didn't.
