Will base bronco be enough?

I love outdoors and always wanted a bronco. This will be my first new car purchase. I will use this as my everyday commuter as well as weekender. I don’t think I’ll be doing any Baja or rock crawling. Which leaves me the question, i got the base but it doesnt come with the mud/ruts goat mode. Will I be ok in mud/ruts with out the goat mode?

Can I get away with the base model in mud and ruts even though it does not have the mud/ruts goat mode??

I would think Slippery mode would help. Base has 5 GOAT modes.

Yeah, you'll be fine. Mud has been around a lot longer than GOAT modes. :D

Might depend more on your tires than any GOAT mode.

Agreed, you'll be fine. I'm getting Base and I'll be doing a lot more than just mud/ruts.

Should be fine. I need a locking rear so it was either Squatch or go up a trim level. Cheaper to Squatch. Base Squatch well equipped 40000 and change.

I’d bet you’ll be good to go. If lockers aren’t a concern for your off road ambitions, I wouldn’t let the mud setting slow you up! Send it!!!

I highly doubt that the ones ordering the hard core Bronco will ever use 10% of what it can do. I ordered a Base with no Sasquatch. Im going to add shocks and maybe 285/75 R16's if they fit.

As @TorgSurv mentioned, the tires on the Base are probably the biggest limiting factor. The open differential with no locker might be a worry if you plan on wheeling a lot which makes the Squatch option worth the coin to some. I wouldn't worry about the GOAT modes...it still has a 2 speed transfer case just like my old Bronc which is plenty. Just have to learn to wheel the old fashion way vs using tech. :p

Yep. Picking up better skills and techniques will be critical. For example, you can partially compensate for the lack of a locker by using the brakes to keep the wheel that's unloaded from spinning (left foot on the brake, right foot on the gas [or for those of us with manual, right heel on the brake, right toe on the gas]). It also helps to keep the vehicle as level as possible while going over obstacles instead of seeing how much you can make it flex. It won't get you through everything, but it helps.

Yep, the Base will be great platform to start with and build upon as your skills develop. Tires can be easily changed and more advanced equipment added as well down the road. :)

And Base model is the most nostalgic looking edition and a great truck all around… I ordered the BD with Sasquatch because it better fits my needs. But don’t feel any regret ordering the Base it will be a lot of fun for you

I've been screwing around on the "build & price" a dozen times. One of the reasons I'm switching back to a Bronco (former Wrangler owner) is that Ford allows you to get the high end off-road options (think Squatch) on a base model. In a Wrangler you have to go Rubicon or go home. If I load up a base model with everything I want, I end up around 43-45k for a 2-Dr. If I start with a higher trim, it always seems to end up around 50k with the same off-road oriented options. That being said, I've been into some pretty gnarly stuff and back over the years without electronic help. As noted by others, proper tires for your intended use, aired down as needed, will go a long way towards success off-road.

The base Bronco is plenty of vehicle. Having owned off road vehicles, 3 of which were previous generation Broncos, I decided to order the base model as well. An immediate upgrade to BFG A/T KO’s will make this vehicle perfect for what you described.

I'm surprised and pumped to see the number of people going in for a base model. I did alot of playing around on the B&P like most of us did. Started with a BD and ended up with a Base 2.7 Sasquatch because I could save a few $$ but get everything thats needed to throw down on the trails. You'll be happy with what the package offers but without having to spend an arm and a leg.

I'm going Base as well, are lockers really meant for rock crawling only? I would think at least a rear locker is required for deep mud

Lockers are nice but like others posted you can have a lot of fun without them. I haven't done much off road in a long while and all we had were 4x4 pickups. We got stuck a few times but my dad's tractor never failed to pull us out. Since my Bronco is also my daily driver I passed on sasquatch (hoping for 2021). Kept build simple. 2dr base, manual, and spent a little more for Rapid Red.
