This should be a great trip! My wife and I took basically the same trip you are doing and the scenery is unbelievable. You're first stint going west will be your worst as it is a lot of just open highway.
Can't wait to see the next episode.

You are correct! It was a lot of open highway. Badlands in badlands is where the fun started!
