I am trying to upgrade my wheels and tires. Picking an offset has been tough. I have a non sas badlands. I want to add Sas flares. Which offset will be most even the sas flares +18 or 0

I am going with a 17x8.5 rim with 315/70 r17 tires. Thoughts?

I have a BadSAS on order with no VIN. I know it makes no sense to some but I am already ordering stuff filling my garage getting ready. The studying I have done caused me to go with zero offset. Zero will give me about 1 inch of poke over stock. Which is what I am looking for. +18 was going to give me way to much poke for my liking. Don't want the rock chips that come with that much poke. Hope this helps.

+18 will be closer to the flare width.
Stock wheels are +55
SAS wheels are +30
So a +18 will have 12mm more poke than SAS. While a 0 will have 30mm more poke than SAS.
There’s a chart and another thread that I had bookmarked but can’t find that stuff anymore…

I have a Badlands non-Sas and went with 35x12.5x17 with a -12 offset. They will poke just the right amount and if you want to add Sas flares, you would still be good. I did learn in the process that the offset can also vary by wheel manufacturer a bit (oddly). A 0 offset will put you about flush with the wheel well and a positive offset is going to tuck your wheels up under the wheel well. It all depends on the look you are going for. I wanted a stacked look, so went with the -12 on Fuel Coverts.
Here is a good article that may help you out, too.

That isn't an accurate statement. Offset is a measurement where the hub is in relation to the centerline of the wheel. That will be exact for each wheel. What will vary is how the wheel design looks with a tire mounted at a specific offset for that wheel.
Positive offset moves the hub toward the outside of the wheel. (More backspacing)
Zero offset has the hub precisely in the middle of the wheel.
A negative offset moves the hub toward the inside of the wheel. (Less Backspacing)
One point would be the bronco suspension is set up for a positive offset wheel. The further away from that may impact tire wear and alignment.

As I mentioned above, it can vary by wheel and manufacturer. For my wheels, the -12 gets me where I want to be on my non-SAS Badlands. I worked with my dealer/custom shop (who does a lot of Bronco mods) and a couple of different tire/wheel shops to make sure I was going down the right path and purchased the right wheel offset. I never claimed to be an expert, but can say I learned a lot along the way and know how my wheels will look once mounted.

If zero offset gives you one inch of "poke", +18mm will give you almost 3/4" less poke. Positive offset gives less "poke". As stated above, offset is measured from centerline. It's not different based on the manufacturer, it is a measurement, either zero or some amount. You can buy wheels with different offset/backspacing, but offset is a defined term, meaning the measurement from centerline.

BTW, -12mm offset would put the tire (assuming same width tire, on same width wheel) much further out than stock, if going from +55 to -12mm. 67mm is over 2.5".

You are correct. I misspoke. I meant -18 was going to give me too much poke. I bought Black Rhino Abrams wheels and the only two options were -18 or 0 in 8.5" width. I chose zero to give me a tad less than an inch of poke over stock sas wheel. Thanks for pointing this out.

This is O offset, on a 17×8.5 on a base black diamond, with Sasquatch fender flares... its hard to show in a pic. But it's +/- 1.75" , of tire poke.

Wow! Perfect! Thanks so much! This is first actual pic I have seen of the set up. That's the look I want. It all fits. I appreciate the photo. When I used online calculator online I used stock Goodyear tires. I am adding Zone 3" lift so my original thought was to run them until I needed new tires. Then try 37s. Now I'm not sure I can wat that long. I might be better to sell new stock sas wheels and tires and go ahead and put 37s on my after market wheels.

Brother you are not kidding. I have already spent over 5K in accessories and I keep adding to the list. I still don't have a VIN. I already Have Zone 3" with control arms and Black Rhino Abrams 8.5w with 0 offset in garage. I don't think if I were to get stock Goodyear's mounted on the new wheels I would be satisfied. Just makes sense the more I think about it to get new 37 Trail Grapplers mounted and sell stock SAS wheels and tires. The Nitto TGs are the only way to go. I ordered a Badlands SAS thinking "Oh, I will buy a loaded Bronco and won't have to spend money on accessories." That was a long time ago. And now here I am 5K in with lots more to go. This is worse than building out a new rifle.

Haha!! Yea the bank account does not stand a chance, especially if you stay in these forums... people will have you buying a Bronco color matched sticker to put on your oil filter, that you didn't even know you needed...😬
Yea, sell the Goodyears and wheels, and get something that sets yours apart. And you will be happy... and I loveeee the Trail Grapplers!!

Just curious, how much more noise do the Trail Grapplers make over stock if you remember?

Im at 5500 miles in right now. Obviously they are noisier, but they throw very few rocks, and are perfectly balanced.
But noise. Maybe 1.5X Louder, still not loud at all.

No it's just the pic and angle.. I see so many pics on here, where it looks like.some.broncos tires on 30⁰.. but it's just the shadow and what not.. but no, mine is dead on with alignment.
