I have a outer banks on order, with the standard wheels and tires. I hike quite often, will the standard tires be good to reach the trail heads? Is there a hood off road tire, that is quiet on the highway

There are quite a few off road tires that are surprisingly quite (relative term) the cooper Evolution MT are really quite for an MT tire. But if you take it easy the factory OBX tires should get you to most trail heads.

I have an outer banks. I installed the wide factory flares. I want to add 33" or 35" tires. What size wheel and tire works best. I dont want to modify anything. I need good off road, but want to maintain a nice highway ride.

Are you going to replace the factory OBX wheels or do you want to just add 33” to the factory wheels? I think you can run 33” with out any issues with the factory wheels.
I know it is a debate here but you could throw 20” wheels and 35, that looks really good. Might have to take off the crash bars but they will fit. 2EBFC815-ADF8-46F1-82EC-B2A1654E903B.jpeg89A5FCC9-F7C3-4E24-83D6-1B22306B958A.jpeg

The best all-terrain tire is the BFGoodrich All-Terrain KO2; however, you're in Oklahoma and didn't give any detail about driving conditions. I'm guessing, based on the lack of information, that you need a tire that clears mud, sticky clay. No all-terrain will work well, and no mud-terrain that works well in that type of clay will be quiet on road. So, you're lost. Off road means something very different to me than it means to lots of other folks. It may or my not mean the same to you. I'm guess your off road is a lot drier than my off road. Hope that helps indeedy.

Objective: I have 7.5x17 wheels with 285/70/17C BFG A-T T/A KO2 tires. I do not have crash bars. 285/70/17C BFG A-T T/A KO2.

Subjective: No, they are not quiet; however, they are much quieter than some other tires you might consider. I would say they are as quiet as they can be considering their tread pattern, purpose and performance. You could find a quieter, less aggressive "car-based" tire, but probably not a quieter tire that performs as well.

Well I am still waiting on my Bronco. the pictures I attached were of my dealerships mannequin, we test drove it and the Nittos seamed quiet enough I mean we were driving with the top down. I live in the Chip seal capital of the world so any tire is loud. On my current F250 it has the Cooper Evolution MT 33" 17s and they are just a quiet as the Toyo Open countries ATs, that I had before. So that is comparing an AT tire to an MT tire but in a 18 year old truck with a 25 year old Cummins it is hard to gage the loudness. all my other cars have all season tires the loudest car is my Cobalt no doubt, 0 sound deadening.
