So, Ford is running out of parts and several months ago, they asked us Bronco customers that have yet to receive our Bronco to reconfigure them if we wanted a 2023 delivery.

Ford requested that we delete or change certain items and, in return, Ford pretty much guaranteed us that our Broncos would be built during 2023. They also told us that if we did not reconfigure our orders, there was no guarantee that our Broncos would be built this year, and, if it wasn't built this year, we would lose our price protection and private offer toward a 2024 model. To qualify for the private offer, Ford wanted us to cancel any Wildtrak orders and change it to another model and cancel a few select options such as the Lux package, Sasquatch option and the hard top.

The private offer amounted to $2500 if you made these changes and the$2500 would be applied to the purchase price of your Bronco or some other select vehicles.

With that said, I switched my Wildtrak two-door order to a two-door Badlands, High package without the Sasquatch option. A couple months ago, I received word that it was being built. The base price for the two-door Badlands when I changed my order was $45,095 on 1/18/23. Now, today, while reviewing my window sticker for my Badlands which is currently being shipped to my dealer, I noticed the base price for the Badlands is $47,395. Ford increased the price by $2300 after I changed my order and qualified for the $2500 private offer.

So, Ford tells us, change your order to receive your Bronco during 2023 and we'll give you $2500 for doing so...but, they didn't tell you they are raising the price by $2300. Personally, I felt that Ford got one over on us and are sitting back in their chairs having a good laugh. What a scam.

You should be price protected as long as your dealer isn’t an idiot.

Normally I would give you all the information here in this forum, but ever since this site changed frontends for the forum software it’s been incredibly frustrating to try to create long posts with large images.

SO… rather than bashing my head against the wall to make it happen… to Bronco6G we go…

Thanks RagnarKon. I reviewed your Ultimate 2023 MY PRICE PROTECTION Flowchart before placing this thread here yesterday. I am a little confused why I didn't have the price protection for my order during 2023. Maybe you can help me out with this.

On March 16,2001, I placed my original Wildtrak two-door order. I never received this vehicle.

On 9/22/22, my Bronco Wildtrak was re-ordered for the 2023 model year. I subsequently received a price protection certificate for $3,880.

On 1/18/23, due to a request from Ford regarding constrained options and the limited availability of the Wildtrak model for 2023, I changed my order to the two-door Badlands Bronco. With this change in my order, I received a $2500 certificate for changing my order to a 2023 Badlands without the constrained items identified by Ford (to include the Sasquatch option and the Lux Package). I still retained my original $3,880 price protection certificate after this change.

On 1/18/23, the retail price, to include shipping, for my two-door Badlands was $56,935.

On 5/23/23, I received an email from Ford that my Badlands was built and being shipped to my dealer. Also included in the email was a link to my window sticker. The window sticker indicated the retail price, to include shipping, is
now $59,585 - which is $2,650 more than indicated on my order from 1/18/23. (My window sticker indicated that my build date was 4/19/23).

On 5/24/23, I contacted my salesman at Ford and he indicated that I had the two original certificates with the Ford Vincent system, one for $3,880 and the other for $2,500. There was no additional certificates for the $2650 price increase from 1/18/23.

There will be no certificate for the price increase in MSRP since you ordered. This is a dealer issue and not on Ford. This is not Bronco specific as any vehicle you order you are locked in once the order has been placed . Your dealer is playing dumb games.
Ask your dealer if it is common practice for them to charge the customer more after they make a deal and place an order. No , if the price increases after your order they always honor the price at that time the order was placed .

I've owned many new Ford's the past 25 years and the ones that I have ordered are carefully worded in a signed contact - if you are fortunate to get them to commit to one - regarding price increases, which would indicate that the dealer is not responsible for price increases - especially a $2500 price increase as is in my case. I would suspect that the dealer would lose money if they deducted my price increase from the sticker price. Additionally, why would Ford Motor Company offer price protection if a price increase was the responsiblity of the dealer to take care of.

Sorry, but I seriously doubt that the dealer is responsible for a significant price increase - FOMOCO offered the price protection, not the dealer.

I was hoping to hear from someone that had the same experience that I am going through and would respond to explain how the price increase was handled for them.

I've ordered more than a couple vehicles, Ford and Jeep. The price the dealership pays isn't MSRP and it's based on the price at time of order. So, if the price at time of order was $50,000 and the MSRP (or invoice) went to $52,500 a day later, the dealership pays the same price for the vehicle (even if the invoice price went up, they pay invoice based on when it was ordered).

Yeah, your sticker shows the increase, but the dealer doesn't pay the increase to the manufacturer. They pay the amount agreed at the time of order. I had this same thing happen on a Jeep I ordered. The price went up within weeks of my order. The sticker went up even more. I paid the agreed amount at time of order (the dealer was selling for a percentage under invoice). I had the order, showing invoice, and the the amount I paid 11 weeks later (when it arrived) was 6% under invoice, even though invoice and MSRP had both increased.

To reiterate what @Rydfree said, your dealer is likely pocketing the difference between the cost at time of order to when the vehicle was built/shipped.

I covered this all in the Bronco6G thread. BUT just to quickly cover it again.

There are two forms of price protection:

  • Private Offer Certificate - This covers price protection across model years and was created specifically for the Bronco. So if you had a 2022 order that was bumped to 2023, you will get a private offer certificate directly from Ford that covers that price increase. The dealer sees none of this money.
  • Retail Price Protection - This is the standard price protection that Ford has always had within the model year. What is supposed to happen is the dealer sells you the vehicle at the original price when you placed your 2023MY order. Once Ford has verified the vehicle has been sold to the original order holder, the dealer will receive an adjustment on their invoice price in a system called Visions. This occurs 30-60 days after sale of the vehicle. If the vehicle is NOT sold to the original order holder, then no adjustment is applied.

In my Bronco6G thread, Columns A and B are the Private Offer Certificate. The remaining columns are all Retail Price Protection.

You are confusing model year to different model year price protection with standard price protection. Ford offered special price protection (Private offer certificate)for model year 2021 to MY 2023 Broncos due to the fact they could not deliver MY 2021 reservations within the same MY. When you placed an order for a MY 2023 Bronco, standard price protection (Retail Price protection) applies when it has a price increase after the fact but is still delivered within the 2023 MY.

It's not that hard to understand. Your dealer is trying to confuse you. They know how the standard price protection works because it has been the same for decades. You can take the experience of the folks here that have purchased a Bronco already and went thru this or you can take your dealers word and let them trick you into paying more .

Last week, after meeting with the owner of the dealership where I purchased my Bronco, I was contacted today and told that I was entitled to the price protection from February, March and April of this year (2023). Mr. Pack, the owner of several Ford dealerships in this area, was very cordial and helpful with my inquiry who subsequently had one of his corporate management team look into this for me. Today I was told that my dealership was reimbursed for the difference between the sticker price and the adjusted retail price which is what I should have paid when I purchased the Bronco. He also told me that Ford's price protection has several parameters based on when your Bronco was purchased and that my Bronco ordered during early March 2021 met the parameters for the price protection increases during this year.

Check again with the dealership and ask them when they are sending you your rebate check. They did the same thing with me. It took a couple of months but I got it. The big problem is you have to pay the increased taxes. If you can find out when the rebate check was mailed to the dealership, that will let them know, that you know they have or will be getting it.

I just received reimbursement for $2500 which was for the three price increases during 2023. Yes it takes six to eight weeks to get the money from the dealership, but, it shouldn't. The dealership has a Ford portal where they can view the vehicle pricing. Based on the vehicle's VIN, it lists sticker price, adjusted retail price and dealer cost.

My argument when it was purchased was - I should pay adjusted retail price and not the sticker price. It was very easy for them to verify the adjusted sticker price so I am left to believe that I was being lied to. I thank the owner of the dealership for having much more integrity than the management at this dealership.

I hear you on that. I have a really good relationship with my dealership and we had open discussions about this ahead of my getting the vehicle. My dealership is a smaller one and they had to wait for 2-3 months to get the rebate money for the 15 or so Bronco’s that came in during that period. I wasn’t happy about the extra taxes that I had to pay, but I did respect the fact that they were up front about everything. As a smaller dealership I can attest that they had literally no new vehicles to sell. They might get 4-5 new vehicles a month and most were already sold. And almost no used vehicles. Their lot was empty. If it wasn’t for service they would have gone under. They just couldn’t absorb that rebate ahead of time. A perfect storm of poop. Many dealerships were and are clueless about how it actually works because Ford didn’t tell them exactly how it was going to work. Like most of this process, Ford was clueless.
