I had a 2016 Escape.
Great car.
In the 5 years I owned it, I never had to do anything other than replace the battery, and get new tires. Most reliable car I’ve ever owned.

If you want to follow it all the way back... this 2022 Bronco Badlands in my driveway replaced a 1989 Ford Bronco XLT.

---

Story time...

It was originally my father's Bronco--the vehicle I both grew up in and learn how to drive. After I got my license, I "permanently borrowed" it from him and drove it everywhere. LOVED it, took care of it, it was awesome. It made it to ~260,000 miles before it started slowly falling apart. By ~275,000 miles it was no longer reliable, and I just didn't have the money to make it reliable again. So I traded it in during the Cash for Clunkers program. Part of me regrets that decision to this day, but honestly it was the best option I had at the time.

I spent the next decade or so focusing on my education and career in New York City. I had a 2013 Ford Focus at the time, but it turns out you don't really need a car in New York City, so it barely got driven. I gave NYC a fair shot, and while it definitely helped my career... living there turned out not to be the lifestyle I wanted, so I moved.

I've been looking for a new vehicle ever since I moved out of the NYC area. In 2019, the Ford Ranger returned to the United States, and by the end of 2019 I had fully intended on buying a new Ford Ranger sometime in 2020. Obviously the pandemic hit the spring of 2020, and with all the unknowns at the time I put the Ranger plans on pause. By summer it was pretty clear what the pandemic was all about, so I resumed searching over the 4th of July weekend. And the very next week Ford announced the Bronco.

The rest of the story is much like everyone else. Lots of waiting, with a large side of waiting, and an extra large waiting to drink.

My recommendation is to try NOT to trade in (and therefore upgrade) any vehicle that you love, IF you don't need the money.
I'm going on 60 and I wish I never sold several cars in the past, especially when I didn't NEED the money.
A few examples:
My 88 and 91 Mustang GTs, both manuals.
My 85 Vette
My 1970 Mercury Cougar XR7 with 351 4V Cleveland motor and FMX transmission
My 1981 Ford 250 Ranger with a swapped in 1994 460 EFI motor
The list goes on, same for guns and motorcycles too....they just get harder and harder to find...

Just my 2 cents....

Good thread. Thanks. Tempting to list other cars owned (sorry) I wish never sold.

Traded 2019 4Runner Limited Nightshade Edition 4x4 with Fulltime 4WD for 2021 Bronco BL 2.3 MT.

4Runner great vehicle. Disclaimer NT did business with Toyota for over 30 years.

4Runner seat bottoms terribly uncomfortable BUT Backseat very comfortable in the Limited model. Solid power but needs more. Very reliable. Poor MPG. A PIA to keep the nightshade clean. Front bumper weak as hell. Overall safe good vehicle you can trust on roadtrips, one I did 4K miles solo in under a week (CA to FL & Back). Zero issues. However, the Bronco has more character, fun to drive, plenty capable and MGV seats way more comfortable.

H3 which I absolutely loved. Had it from 2012 and put 158K on it. Sold it to a buddy, who loves it too, and I still have visitations rights LOL. Prior to that I was a Jeep girl-3 Grand Cherokees and I still own my 1980 CJ7 I have had since I was a JR in high school. Original motor with the AMC logo on the steering wheel. My first car was a -77 Mustang fast back.

Only thing I miss is the sound of the Hemi and having the lights done already (Pic was taken around Halloween, hence the colors. I was being real festive there)

My last car was a B5 Blue 2019 Dodge Challenger R/T ScatPack with 392 HEMI V8 and Shaker. I loved it, but I'll love my 2023 Bronco Badlands Sasquatch equally but for entirely different reasons.

Chris here. I drive a 2023 Ford Bronco Badlands with Sasquatch, Lux, a 2.7L V6, and automatic transmission. Happy to not require cult deprogramming.

My unsolicited opinion… keep the WRX, make the Crosstrek the sacrificial lamb.

Saying goodbye to my 2016 Wrangler. It has been a awesome vehicle. Ive had little to complain about it over the years. Basic maintenance and some wear items, tires, brakes. Im hoping for the same with the Bronco…

I hated it. The Recaros were made for someone with a size 24 waist. After 30 minutes, I just wanted out of it. Very juvenile car, very racy. If I was 20 years younger, I'd agree with you. The Crosstrek is very useful, you can drive it when it snows. lol
