For anyone interested...
I've been looking into this. No reason to hurry, really... I've got 3yr/36k to make up my mind and I'm not even one month in yet. 😄 But experience with our Explorer (trans issues at 40k miles) tells me it's wise nowadays. An ext. warranty also saved our bacon on a previously-owned Honda Odyssey.
Anyhow, I've noticed Flood Ford (
https://www.floodfordesp.com/) sells up to 10 year warranties with $0-200 deductibles. Meanwhile, Granger only seems to go to 8 years, for reasons unknown. I found Flood Ford to be slightly cheaper than
Granger, averaging about $60-80 on comparative plans.
Meanwhile, direct from Ford (
https://fordprotect.ford.com/premiumcare) is definitely
NOT cheaper. On a 10yr/100k warranty with $50 deductible, they were $1480 more expensive! On the whole, direct from Ford is nearly $1400-1500 more. That's a LOT! They DID offer up to 10 years, though.
These are all Ford ESP plans. I don't understand why Granger stops at 8 years, but I think at certain levels (like with a $50/deductible) they can definitely be worth it.
The difference in deductibles ($0/$50/$100/$200) generally seems to add about $200 to the overall plan at each level.
If anyone knows of any other "Players" on this field (online reduced-cost sales of Ford ESP warranties), please let me know!
