Not of fan of the MIC gray, want to ask if anyone has wrapped their MIC? How is it/or would it hold up? Will it adhere to MIC? Same question for fender flares?

This guy did wrap. Can they be painted without issues?

I have seen pictures of ones that have been painted, all of them were professionally done however. No videos of actually someone painting one.

I would have it done...my hands not that steady. I thought I read that the 1st MIC top that had the problems was painted and the paint started to peal, so they went to the gray color only.

Given all the texture on the MIC top I would be extremely concerned about the longevity of the vinyl wrap but hey, we all know that vinyl is temporary anyway!

As for painting, I am sure there are some folks that will do a simple 2 stage base coat, clear coat but in my unprofessional opinion, the way to really paint the MIC top would be a marine treatment.

Unfortunately, I don’t have a hardtop on my Bronco so I don’t have a canvas to experiment on.

BTW - a couple of weeks ago I gave Budget Bronco a couple of pointers and offered to cut him a set of my old skool hockey stripes if he provided the material.

Professional Wrap is more expensive than Paint. Not sure why anyone would do it. Only lasts less than 10 years.

In my experience, professional paint is more expensive than professional wrap.

The appeal of vinyl is that a wrap is an easy way to change the look of a vehicle with a fairly low cost of entry that can be changed when you get sick of it and want a new aesthetic. Vinyl can also be used for stripes and designs to enhance the paint of a vehicle.

But hey, I am a little biased because I have a particular set of skills… (cue Taken)

It definitely is easy. I do however like the gray mic top. Doesn't bother me at all. Maybe sometime down the road when Ford offers a top to match the color of the body, I would swicth.
Wildtrak, hot pepper red, mic, Lux, tow...Totally worth it!!

There are two types of hard tops. MIC and painted modular. The painted modular has different construction/material. Apparently not available till 2023. Not sure exactly what the issue was or what the difference in the construction of it was.

My understanding is that the painted top is more similar to the Wrangler painted tops and has a smoother surface where the MIC top is injection molded with the color and slightly textured.

Does anyone know if Webasto was/is expected to make the Painted Tops in addition to MIC?

After all the issues Webasto had with MIC top, I believe one of the "insiders" on one of the forums suggested Webasto may have lost the contract for the Modular Painted Tops and a different company is working to ramp up for that. Don't think there was any specifics and too lazy to hunt around for the post.

Not sure a wrap is the way to go... I'm planning on spraying the fender flares with bed liner once my aftermarket bumpers arrive.
